    Democrats stealing elections, imposing vaccine mandates, freeing violent felons, allowing in millions of illegal aliens, inflation running wild, national debt skyrocketing!! And its not even a year under Biden!!!

    How much more will we take? How much more should we take?

    We all know the democrats will steal the next election. And the next. Trump was right, the only way they can win is by cheating!!!!

    So what do we do? Is it time to abandon democracy in order to save the USA from total and complete destruction??

    No, we just need to shrink democracy. There's no reason to have the entire nation making laws for eachother when every community has its own government, police, infrastructure... decentralization is the answer to saving America ...before communities are pressed to 'decentralize' themselves. (I'm talking about secession)

    You had me up until the succession part. You do know that's never going to happen, right?

    Up until the pandemic I was actually for reducing state and increasing local government. But I've changed my mind now.

    Then whats the OP about? If The Union is indestructible, then what are we trying to save?

    ...and why did the pandemic convince you that big centralized govt is better?

    I think the OP was a subtle swipe at the Right trying to find ways to win elections and hold onto Power by non-Democratic means.

    If you were a bit more precise I could have said yes. I am in favor of a system that only allows anyone who does not make a net gain on taxes to vote. Or even go back to only property owners can vote.

    Unless some part of 'us' were to be co-opted by China. Then distancing or separating from it would be a necessity for our survival.

    Sometimes the infection has to be amputated. Fortunately, when the 'body' is actually a nation, 'arms' and 'legs' can survive independently from the rest of the 'organism.'

    I agree with everything you said and I think it could be done without secession. This country with it's massive geographical, cultural, and ideological diversity would be better as These United States of America instead of The United States of America. United we are not, not anymore at least. A Federation of States unified under a common Federal Government but with each State having almost full sovereignty. The majority of all power lies directly with the States themselves with the Federal Government being near ceremonial akin to the Queen of England technically being the official Head of State over there.

    The problem now lies with the fact that the Federal Government simply has way too much power. Outside of a few very basic principles that every State needs to agree to follow in order to remain part of the Union there should be almost no Federal Laws, laws should be dictated by State governments for the States they govern. Yes undoubtedly someone will say it, no you shouldn't be allowed to legalize "The Purge" every 3rd Thursday of the month in your State or set up 5 year old child Gladiator combat arena's for orphans or anything and remain part of the Union. But basic logical laws like "No murder, no rape, etc" apply to all and everything else you figure it out at the State level. Federal Government has zero authority over things like drugs, alcohol, abortion, civil rights, firearms, speed limits, etc. That's all State level.

    The Federal Government should be treated by citizens the way we tend to treat local government. Everybody can name the President, most people can't name their own county commissioners or even their own Mayor. It should be the other way around, few people should be able to even name who the President of the US is or members of Congress because they have so little power that they don't really matter in your life at all. 99% of all government power over citizens should stop at the State level and be consolidated primarily at the local level where folks actually live. The Federal Government gets the remaining 1% of power to deal with foreign trade and all that jazz.
