do ya have any recipes or advice you can share ? My Mom was a fine cook , but she just never had a lot of luck with her doughnuts .

yep , My Mom had a rare talent for stewed apples & spagetti & putting up corn & green beans , I can still smell her cooking . at times .

man , that's a rough road for a 6 yr old kid to understand , heck , that'd be rough for a grown-up to deal with , working the 2nd shift don't help either , whew . . . it's a crazy world we live in , a lot of things don't make any sense . Did you and your Dad get along ?

I have some Dr. Pepper to share around if anyone wants some! I am celebrating because the medication I am on (for an inflamed gallbladder) is working and I felt like giving a toast toward my recovering health.

Good news - A1c of 5.6, BP is 134/82.

Bad news - 348 lbs.

 

My last A1c test was 6.2 this morning my B/P is 143/75

my bad news is - 262 lbs. but I am down from 316 and I am trying to reach 200.

I've been giving it a lot of thought... and I've decided to give up the internet. My cousin will be coming by shortly to pick up my laptop... and I'm quitting cold turkey... just like I stopped smoking.

It's all become too much for me and between nightmares about politics and obsessions with staying current on the news... think it's time to give it all up and focus on ME for awhile. Giving away my computer is just one step... also canceling cable TV and throwing my cellphone in the recycle bin.

Before I embark on this life-changing program, just wanted to stop in and say goodbye to y'all. You've been like family to me and I'll miss you all terribly. God bless you one and all.

I haven't read but a few posts since returning from my Banning.
Is it fair to say I'm missing something.

If my A1c is over 8.0, or my fasting blood sugar is over 200, or my BP is over 140/90, I'm medically disqualified from driving until such time as I can pass a physical.

I have a physical sometime between now and mid-May over in Dallas, and if I fail then it's a minimum three-week unpaid vacation before I can return to work. "Unpaid" meaning that unless I have vacation days to cover the time off, I'm S.O.L. - work comp doesn't cover this type medical issues, and short-term disability doesn't kick in until the 31st day off work.

Lay off the pasta and the sweet tea for the next month, take my BP medication, and all should be well!

 

If all fails, we can always make you pull the rig.

 

After reading your post my heart rate jumped up to 200 beats per minute and I started to cry uncontrollably at the thought of losing you. hehehehehehe

 

I said I thought that Clydesdales were neat - I never said I wanted to be one!

On the other hand though, they eat good, people take care of them, everybody loves them, and I'd be back home in St. Lou... Hmmmmm... I should look into this!

 

Just think about the load they could carry. You'd never be thirsty again.

 

But clydesdales are not allowed to drink.
