Our political Left certainly detected a political advantage for the 2020 presidential election season to deliberately stampede the nation into economically shutting down over the equivalent of their MSM's "We are all going to die!" assertions. Whether or not their and their upper level politicians running the DNC would still have done so had they had a strong slate of presidential contenders rather than just the pair of losers called Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden is guesswork.

I look at it this way though. Either the nation's political Left was wrong to deliberately stampede this nation with their over the top, "We are all going to die!" predictions and thus will pay a heavy political cost for that come election day OR Trump was correct in his dealings with all the State governors and in his general handling of the response so that we did NOT end up all dying; and thus the Left will still pay a heavy price for THAT come election week.
