How in the name of phuck do you get that fat...I mean he must be eating the whole bleeding donut factory!!
Is it a requirement of being a nerd that one has to be a fat slob...??

 

its been a liquid lunch so we've been thinking about things...are yanks getting fatter or is it just the aperture settings on iPhones? If iPhones had bigger apertures would yanks appear thinner?
Seriously though there are some reeeeeaaaly fat buggers out there!!

 

We have an obesity epidemic in the US. A lot of people don't even eat real food anymore. It is all processed, high in fat, sugar, and salt. There are food deserts, where all you can get is fast food - the grocery stores have all closed.

1/3 of all health care costs in the US can be tracked back to sugar consumption - that is $1 trillion dollars a year in sugar-related health care costs.

By using "bliss point engineering" food companies make people into addicts. They engineer foods to bypass our natural sense of satiation. So we keep eating, and eating, and eating... Doritos were the first engineered food.

"No one can eat just one!" is even a famous slogan for potato chips. They're right.

Whether or not you have an aperture problem, yes, Americans are getting fatter.

 

Seriously!! I haven't been to the states for years now...which is a shame coz I loved it...but I remember the portion sizes were an eye opener. I was invited to a football game and my mate asked me it I wanted a coke....he came back with a vat of the stuff which you could have bathed in!! I mean it was HUGE...the Asswan dam contained less fluid than that "cup" of coke...people were quaffing the stuff!!

 

I was in Iowa at a steak house. I was on a job so I was alone; ordered a steak, potato, and a salad. I swear they brought enough food for four people! The steak was enormous. It looked more like a quarter of a prime rib. The potato was half the size of a football. And they gave me a big serving bowl of salad - like we used at the dinner table for the entire family. I was thinking my gawd!!! Who could eat this much? Then I looked around and noticed that a significant number of people in the place looked to be close to 300 pounders. Almost everyone in there was huge!

And you are right about the soft drinks. Some stores sell 1/2-gallon tubs.. oh excuse me, cups.

Another issue coming to light is that bliss-point engineering maximizes both the fat and the sugar content. It isn't nearly as bad to eat one or the other, as it is to eat large quantities of both at the same time. But just the sugar content can be crazy. I went low carb, so I had to stop eating sugar. It is hard to get away from the stuff. It is hidden in everything from many so-called protein bars, to spaghetti sauce.

 

Bliss point engineers often don't let their own kids eat engineered foods.

 

I guess this isn’t the right forum for this but I’ve never heard of the “bliss-point” but can imagine what it is.. kindda like the g-spot for foodies?

 

Basically, you find just the right mix that maximizes the salt, sugar, and fat. Go beyond that and people will want to stop eating. It becomes overwhelming and doesn't bypass the satiation mechanism. And with too little, our satiation naturally kicks in as with any natural food. But if you go to just the right amounts, you can't stop eating... or at least, you don't naturally want to until you're stuffed.

 

No English dictionary has been able to adequately explain the difference between these two words. In a recent linguistic competition held in London and attended by, supposedly, the best in the world, Samdar Balgobin, a Guyanese man, was the clear winner with a standing ovation which lasted over 5 minutes.

Back in the day I was here while an American company out of Boise was building a power line. One of the crew had a one footed Grey that he gave to a friend of mine. It was very good at sounds, door knockings, cats whatever. One day some Protestant missionaries came to visit her and the bird greeted them with, "Jesus Loves me!" in a sing song voice. The missionaries were joyous. But then the bird continued in a low, guttural voice, "You sorry bastard."
They were no longer amused. It had learned other choice phrases in the construction camp.

 

If I want donuts I have to make them myself. No preservatives nor additives. OK, the cream filled with maple frosting might have a teensy bit of fat and sugar but the also have milk! Eggs! Flour! Now there's health food for you.

No! Being fat and being a nerd are two completely different issues. I know a lot of nerds who are super fit! I'm a nerd and I'm fairly buff, esp for my age. I got fat but lost the weight and got in shape.

I certainly never got THAT fat! I had to lose 60 pounds to hit my ideal weight. I'd put that guy at 350 pounds.
