So regardless of all medical knowledge that contradicts it, we should assume maybe someday eventually perhaps theoretically if only mayhap someone might develop a cure sometime in the far future? He should be tortured because of a thing that doesn't exist now and may never?

Let me guess, you are one of those "compassionate" conservatives, right?

Who said anything about all by themselves? They aren't doing anything by themselves with Charlie Gard.

And it's doctors making the call in this case too, not the government.

No the government is making the call by taking parental rights away from the child when the pope and America said he can come to either the vaticans hospital or America.

It amazes how the mighty left loves to kill people for political gain..

So the Pope believes so little in his god that he would rather see a child tortured than send that child to heaven?

It amazing how the right loves to torture children when there is zero chance of improvement to their situations.

Says you and when someone does improve you say "oops, my bad"

Man Awakens After 12 Years In Coma, Says He Was Aware of ‘Everything’

Doctors in South Africa were not sure what caused his illness, but suspect it was cryptococcal meningitis. His condition grew worse and eventually he lost all ability to move and speak and make eye contact with his family.

Physicians said he would die, but his family proceeded with a routine. Every morning his father would get up at 5 a.m., dress Martin and take him to the care center. At the end of the day, he’d give him a bath, feed him dinner and put him to bed.

His parents set an alarm to go off every two hours to turn Martin’s body so he wouldn’t get bed sores.

It was their life for 12 years.
Today, Martin is able to talk again. He uses a computer to speak and is mobile with a wheelchair. His awareness has fully returned.

In his book, “Ghost Boy: My Escape From A Life Locked Inside My Own Body“, Martin tells what he remembers from those 12 years. He says he thinks he began to wake up about two years into his coma.

Did that man have the same condition as Charlie Gard? Did he have severe brain damage?

Bear513 thinks every patient in a coma has the same disease.

I think his point is that not every "hopeless" case is truly hopeless.

But some are. Conditions with a 100% fatality rate, like Charlie Gard's, are.

But we don't know this for sure, though. Medical science keeps advancing. Some diseases that were previously un-treatable are now treatable.

So this child should be tortured for an indefinite period because maybe perhaps might be could be hypothetically someday someone somewhere MIGHT develop a cure?

Just a ballpark estimate, how close is medicine to curing severe brain damage? How long is it okay to torture Charlie Gard while he waits?

I was talking about in general. Not in this particular case.

In general, most cases aren't as cut and dry as this one, but in a case like this, parents should not be allowed to torture their child when there is no hope of improvement.

    That would be you...not me.

Remind you in both cases I presented the doctors gave them no hope of living.

I do you know he is being tortured, did you ask him? I am kind of sure sucking a fetus out of a womb is torture..but that's ok with you.

You've accused the baby's parents of torture several times. It's defamatory as well as unkind. Please stop.

In neither cases were patients suffering from conditions with 100% fatality rates.
