It is torture. It's the infliction of pain for its own sakes which is the case because an improving condition is NOT in the cards.

No, we are talking about a treatment that already fails in the majority of cases for the condition it was designed to cure and isn't even designed to treat Charlie Gard's condition.

 

Just to be clear,how long (just a ballpark number) would it be okay to continue torturing this child while he waits for a cure that isn't even close to development, let alone realization?

They have so much faith they'd rather torture their child than let it go to paradise. They must really fear heaven.

I bet they do develop a cure for his condition some time in the future. If that doesn't come for 20 years, would torturing Charlie for 20 years be worth curing him? Bear in mind, he'll still be severely brain damaged.

I have worked with a few ...yea maybe they should of just been killed off with your logic..but why?

 

Doctors involved in the case seem to think he is in a state of pain and discomfort, but what do they know right? It's not like they are priests. Doctors don't know anything.

 

That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying it's unnecessarily cruel to torture someone for years and even if some miraculous cure appears force them to live the shell of a life after that.

Charlie Gard is severely brain damaged. We aren't talking about a kid with Down's Syndrome. We're talking about someone one step above vegetable: still aware enough to feel pain and discomfort, but not aware enough to do anything other than lay in a hospital bed, ******** themselves, eating liquid food, and staring off into space.

Once again why does the the pope and a American doctor thinks there is hope?

Well the doctor is being paid more than a million dollars, so he's compromised, and the Pope isn't an expert but his utter lack of faith that Charlie Gard's existence would be improved in heaven does say a lot about how much faith he truly has.

 

But you think they know everything and in so many cases they were proven wrong.

Maybe the pope believes , his parents believe and just a little insignificant industrial maintenance guy like me believes Charlie still has something to offer the world.. Charlie can't do it if the GB government kills him out right.

In the absence of contravening evidence, the evidence that exists should form the basis of one's opinion. This isn't the statement of one doctor. It isn't even two doctors, it's every doctor who's been involved with the case except the guy who stands to profit more than a million dollars.

By the way, if that doctor told the parents "This definitely won't work, I mean, the disease your son has, this treatment isn't even designed for, but what the hey, pay me a million bucks and I'll try it anyways.", how likely do you think it would be that the parents would pay him?
