I’m not you, I don’t run to mommy.
So you think that Christians didn’t commit atrocities in Nazi germany?I think most Christians are good people, the same way I think most Muslims are good people.
What do think the marchers in Charlottesville were? Buddhists? Sadly the point is going over your head. Before you condemn one religion, look at your own. Good people can do bad things

Unlike you and your friends, I don't report people with whom I disagree. That said, I'll refrain from replying to your false accusations to avoid further actions against my account.

Back on topic, I was an avid reader of science fiction beginning when I was 9 until my early 30s. Science Fiction, or as Harlan Ellison called it, "Speculative Fiction", is more than just rocket ships and aliens. It allows authors to explore alternative realities such as Philip Dick's "The Man in the High Castle", also turned into a series but on Amazon.

Margaret Atwood's books often explore women's themes, specifically about women's rights in modern society. She doesn't strike me as the man-hating nutjob some "women's rights advocates" often come across as being. Another of her books is "Alias Grace", turned into a mini-series on Netflix, an about the female half of a murderous duo in 1843 Canada and based on a true story.

I can't remember what or if I said anything about the author. I know she vehemently protested the way feminists used her fantasy novel to foment fear in women. Maybe she actually wrote satire? I doubt it very seriously, but I don't think she meant it to be a kind of example of what will happen.

So was I and it was not Harlan Elllison who coined the term " Speculative Fiction " but Hugo Gersback the original editor of " Amazing Stories"

What is playing out today in America with Trump is eerily reminiscent of Heinlein's short story "If this goes on"

I don't recall seeing anything about Atwood's comments regarding the way feminists have used her book, but I can see how any reasonable person would be against fear-mongers and extremists, especially if they were twisting an author's words.

I’ve been up since 6 to get to these tournaments but I have this damn cold that is getting worse and my daughter and husband made me go home.
The book is pretty much written ,
but my publisher wants me to do more on kids and the internet, Being an Internet junkie makes it hard for me to give advice. If they had the Internet but I was a kid I probably never would have studied. But then again I probably never would have written a book.
You would probably like this book. It is two-sided. One speaks to parents of teenagers and the other speaks to teenagers with parents. Youd like the teenager part.
Ps don’t tell me to get to work, I should be telling you that

Did you see alias grace? I was so disappointed in the ending
By the way, Margaret Atwood has been accused of being “a man hating nut job, some women’s rights advocate”

I'm thinking you aren't much older than me or I'm not much older than you. I'm not sure.

I couldn't tell you if I'd like it or not, but I'm a bit concerned you are being facetious or spit ball with hit me in the back of the head in a little bit.

I am much older than you! I’m older than everyone. I am the matriarch here Please don’t talk to me about being facetious when you put the word husband in quotes and seem to not believe what I do...

You told me you were 70 and then denied it. At least I let you know I'm being facetious with quotes or some other way. It isn't a spit ball to the back of the head. I'd guess you are between 55 and 60. You grew up in the era that got to see much of what you think is oppression of women. You didn't experience it. Your mother complained much of the time because dad was out somewhere more than home helping her raise you and or other children. Mum made you feel guilty for being born. You tried to help her, but couldn't do it like she wanted because you were little and she didn't want embarrassed if it slipped out to the other moms she couldn't take care of you. She could, but she was resentful at your father, if he was even still a part of your family.

All of this anger built inside of you. You had no ability to release it on your dad. If he was around, you were afraid of him and you loved him. He warmed your heart and you just couldn't holler at him. He made you feel safe. It was a conflicted childhood for you with a mother like that. She didn't mean to confuse you, but she never wanted to be a mom. That, she could never tell, because she loved you in spite of not really wanting children.

How close to the truth is that? Don't say, "not at all". There is some in everything.

    ...I am past 70..
Boy do you have my history wrong and quite insulting to my mom. I grew up in the era where I saw the oppression of women and I experienced it. And I helped the fight to make changes for women....and my daughter and granddaughter are living my dream. And today and yesterday just watching my girls compete in sports is something that was not a reality when I grow up. It was no title nine for sports
Shall I psychoanalyze you the way you did me? You had a mother who made you feel worthless and that is why you hate women . Your father was a terrible role model and wished he never had you. .. You blame your lack of accomplishments on them and by extension everyone else.

How were you oppressed? What changes did you make or help make and how did you go about that? What is title nine for sports?

You have been psychoanalyzing me. Oh, you didn't wait for my answer. You gave me no respect.

Nope, mum loved me. Don't hate women. I sometimes wish I was never attracted to anyone, though.

No, but he was a product of his time. He loved children and grandchildren.

Nope, even stated in this thread that I made some poor choices, or none due to my own fears. Then, I stated my career was affected by a, "judge with a grudge". It was partly my fault that a judge had any control over my life.

You don't even read my posts. You're all about your beliefs and attacking those who you think are wrong for theirs. Aren't you? You don't like me. You actually dislike me greatly for what you think I represent. You work the angles trying to open a crack to justify your feelings.

Where did you live and what was the general societal status of your family? You were born during or just after WWII, and in what country?

Who is "they"? I favor legalization of all drugs, albeit with similar restrictions as on alcohol. "Nanny States" are oppressive states.

IMHO, a person's history is irrelevant to the opinions, ideas or supposed "facts" they are presenting. If anyone wants to relate their history for context, fine, but they are not required to do so since it's their statements that are under review not how much money they have, what their religion is, their sexual preference or any other personal detail. It is, however, interesting to know for context. To understanding why a person hates Jews, men, women, Christians, Americans, etc.

I wasn’t really psychoanalyzing you I was kind of satirizing what you were saying about my family...just trying to be as silly as you were. Do you think I really know anything about your parents? Of course I don’t

What changes did I take part in? I was able to get credit in my own name once I married which I was not able to do before. The top universities like Harvard and Yale were opened to my daughter. Reproductive freedom for women. When I grew up you never saw a female newscaster. Medical schools and law schools are now half women..Women are on the supreme court and in Congress and my granddaughters see that as an option for them, women my age could never dream of that. And title 9. That is a law that education cannot discrimate in education, Boys sports used to get all the money and boys would get college scholarships for sports and girls were excluded. Now I watch my granddaughters play basketball volleyball and equestrian sports unaware of that scholarships were closed to them or limited. I can go on and on.
PS I read your posts and enjoy them , I feel bad that you think I don’t like you. I don’t know you enough to like or dislike you ..you disappoint me in some of your thinking and I think you are projecting your own attitudes onto me,
I could just as easily say exactly what you said Here “you don’t like me but you actually dislike me greatly for what you think I represent. You work the angles trying to open a crack to justify your feelings”

Not disagreeing what you think others are doing.

FWIW, I don't psychoanalyze people since that's Freudian psychology, but I definitely profile and form an opinion of people based upon their behavior.
