Quitting smoking is not a joke to do. It is so tough many try and fail. I do not condemn their effort. I smoked about 40 cigarettes a day for decades and when I quit it was cold turkey. Thus far I've gone four years without a lapse. So yeah, if I sound smug and preachy and condescending as all hell...at least I'm aware of how vegans and other cultists sound. Ex-smokers are a cult of their own. I am among them and I know.

How many exercise self-control to even employ one? That's part of my overall point.

 

Again....people showing "self-control" by using contraceptives can still get pregnant. You seem to be under the impression the only people who get pregnant accidentally are ones showing no self-control. That just isn't the case.
Smokers and vegans suck for different reasons. Smokers suck when I have to smell the disgusting vile stench of cigarettes on them. Vegans suck because of how condescending some of them can be.

In our case, there are other factors that may end up sending us in the other direction.

1. Its not sustainable. CA is already far to the left and having the highest level of socialism had many cities on the brink of insolvency before Covid hit. Taxes are already the highest.
2. Illness. Americans are fatter and sicker than ever. As more and more Americans become too ill to work, eventually there will not be enough workers to feed the hungry socialist monster.

Socialism is great until you run out of other people's money.

It's probably unfair to tar all video-game players or other internet addicts as all being fat slobs with couch-lock, but the need for exercise is something they've promoted for years and until COVID the folks who did listen suddenly had nowhere to go for the equipment they wanted to use. How far back did you have to go for such a rare example, and moreover, after Katy Hill, Carlos Danger, Jeffrey Epstein and a parade of other Democrats or their fundraisers (Buck, was it?), you'd think Dems would want that privacy.
