Because it is optional, many people who do not carry are members of the NRA.

You're looking for chapter and verse. That's explicitly not how it works. You've been routed to the material, shock us all by actually reading it for once

Not going to happen, this expert of media research can only post the bullet points programmed to it by media.

In other words we make it up as it comes along rather than relying on the ONE “Universal Declaration of Human Rights”

What was utterly PATHETIC was your use of ad hominen because you could handle the FACT that none of those training courses dealt with actual REALITY!

PRETENDING that 100% of gun owners are ALWAYS sober is a load of bovine excrement and you know it which explains WHY you lowered yourself to the level puerile insults instead.

But thanks for proving that I was RIGHT about guns NOT protecting homeowners.

    Have a nice day!

That does not give the gun obsessed a license to kill anyone they want to.

Dogs, baseball bats and evacuation routes are all contingency plans for anyone getting past the walls.

If one in the united states does not wish to possibly be killed in the commission of a crime, perhaps they should simply not go out of their way to commit a crime in the first place. It is not that difficult of a concept to comprehend.

Home invasion being legally recognized as an offense where deadly force may be utilized does not translate into "a license to kill anyone they want to" and the constant use of hyperbole on the part of yourself does nothing to validate the erroneous claims being presented on the part of yourself.

The last thing in the world I would ever want to do is hurt or kill someone.

What I do find odd is those who don't own or like firearms seem to believe those who do, just want to kill people, while I cannot speak for all gun owners, I have never met a gun owner anywhere who wanted to injure or kill someone, that is something which responsible gun owners go out of their way to avoid.

Also the one thing that I have discovered over the years is gun owners just have a desire to be secure and to be able to defend ourselves and those around us and possessing a gun is of course one of the best tools for made for that purpose.

However, possessing a gun places a ultra-high level of responsibility upon us, well above what the average person needs to have, we must not only have calm and steady temperament combined with a equally ultra-high level of self control to prevent ourselves from misusing a gun when provoked, we must also take positive steps to assure no one can take the gun from us and commit a crime with it, while that seem easy it truly takes a lot of effort.

We are not the type of people who would wake up in the middle of the night in a drunken stupor, because we carefully control and limit our consumption of anything that could put us in such a position, we don't act bold or pushy as if looking for trouble, conversely though we do have a level of self confidence that the street animals can detect, which go's a long way to preempt getting into a position where we might need to use a gun and many of us are also well versed in other forms of self defense allowing to avoid the need to use a gun.

And unlike many anti-gunners, we don't go around provoking people, or bullying folks, something which is displayed all too often in this and other venues.

The truth be told, if you ever met one of us, you would probably never know we are armed and prepared to defend all of those around us.

Canines, especially those that serves as pets rather than guards, are unreliable options and have short shelf lives of effectiveness, to say nothing of significant costs of basic upkeep. Baseball bats and other blunt instruments require significant physical strength and become useless if a single arm is injured prior to their need. Evacuation routes do not apply when the matter pertains to home invasions.

While you might possess all of those characteristics it is patently obvious from reading the posts in the Gun Control forum that a great many of the gun obsessed have anger management issues. Anyone who is unable to control their emotions is obviously not someone that should have access to firearms. However just reading their posts makes it abundantly clear that they are using their guns as substitutes for shortcomings in other areas. Anyone who has these problems is unlikely to abide by the lofty standards you outlined above. There is plenty of evidence of gun owners drinking and getting into fights with lethal consequences.

So while you aspire to live according to those aspirations you have no control over those that don't. Unfortunately We the People have to live with the dire consequences of those that fail to take responsibility for both their behavior and their firearms. The statistics are undeniable that there are thousands of innocents who are killed and tens of thousands who are wounded as a result of irresponsible firearm owners.

Needless to say there will be an automatic kneejerk denial to what I have just posted because the gun obsessed ALWAYS refuse to face up to the reality of what they have caused either directly or indirectly.

That denialism is why responsible gun owners have no credibility!

If responsible gun owners want to ever regain their credibility they need to start cleaning up the mess that they are part of by denouncing the gun obsessed and working hard to enact and ENFORCE regulations that will keep firearms OUT of the hands of the mentally unbalanced and those who don't understand the RESPONSIBILITY that comes with gun ownership.

I am not holding my breath because that is NEVER going to happen since the ABSURD drivel that EVERYONE no matter how mentally unbalanced or incapable of ever being a responsible gun owner must be allowed to have whatever lethal firearms they want without any verification whatsoever OVERRIDES everything else.

Which is why when I read what you wrote above I just shake my head because NOWHERE did you mention that you should be holding your fellow gun owners to that same standard. Since you are the people with the guns and you REFUSE to hold each other accountable that means that it is up to We the People to do it instead. I appreciate that it upsets gun owners like yourself but since you WON'T do it you leave the rest of us with no other option.

I was going to ask you to think about it but then I realized that not a single one of the gun obsessed has read this far and I very much doubt that even gun owners like yourself have either because there is way too much prior to this point that would have TRIGGERED outrage and ANGER!

Which brings us back to exactly where we started!

Bottom line, no gun owner has the ability to modify the behavior and actions of other people outside of our immediate family, that is the reason we have laws, which if enforced will do exactly what you are seeking to be done.

Unfortunately enforcement and prosecution is under funded and therefore under utilized because of that the problem will continue and people will continue to be killed that is until enough people have had enough of it and demand action through the ballot box causing a serious change in such enforcement.

Sadly I doubt that will ever happen because too many people are too busy tossing around blame and spending too little time demanding action.

By they way in reference triggered.

If a person allows themselves to be "triggered" is an indication of a lack of self control, when one becomes triggered they have surrendered themselves and their emotions by allowing someone else control over such.

I will not allow anyone to do such to me.

Furthermore, I personally don't know of a single firearm owner and I know and have trained quite a few, who can be triggered, one of the primary aspects of gun ownership is having a solid and steady control over ones emotions and emotional based reactions and we train to react to actions, not words.

It is really not all that tough to do and in fact is one of the first things rookie law enforcement officers are trained to do, the reason being reacting to provocation only escalates an already overheated encounter.

Perception is another major factor, when someone attempts to trigger or provoke me I consider the source and basically write them off as being immature and foolish, which is something I will not react to, because doing so is giving that fool what they seek and I will not do that, because they are not worth that much effort on my part .

Plus by not reacting many times what happens is what I guess could be called a reverse trigger, that is to say the provocateur becomes triggered by not being able to evoke a reaction from his intended victim, basically doing so pisses off the idiot by not reacting to that person's idiocy.

    Wrong!

The NRA is OBSTRUCTING both ENFORCEMENT of existing laws and any new laws.

The blame lies entirely with the gun owners and the NRA, no one else!

Actually that is the opposite of what the ILA and law abiding gun owners are doing, we push hard for the enforcement of existing laws and for long prison sentences for those who misuse guns.

What we do try to block are laws and regulations that would have a negative effect on the law abiding and maybe that is what has you somewhat confused about the NRA.

    Wrong!

NRA-ILA Director Cox has openly stated that he WANTS the mentally ill to have access to firearms.

I guess you didn't read the story you posted a link to, because it explains how the Obama administration was attempting to pull a gun grab a scam if you will by going after Social Security recipients by labeling them as mentally ill.

The article also clearly states there is nor correlation between mental illness and gun violence.

In reality had you read the article and understood the facts, you would have discovered what Obama was trying to do was crush many elderly folks right to be able to protect themselves and the NRA-ILA stepped in and put an end to that.

Furthermore mental illness is a very broad term which includes many illness's that would have nothing to do with someone safely owning or using a gun.

Maybe you might want to try again, this time with something you understand and have researched, versus tossing out irrelevant, but catchy headlines and out of context comments.

The DOCUMENTED FACT that NRA-ILA Director Cox was LYING in that article has already been established!

    https://www.factcheck.org/2017/10/nra-execs-false-gun-claim/

But thanks for proving me 100% correct that it is the NRA and gun owners who are the problem by actively ENABLING the mentally ill to obtain firearms.
