It is not possible for one to justify their support of firearm-related restriction on the basis of so-called "public safety" while simultaneously supporting those who have proven that they either cannot, or simply will not, abide by the rules of society. The two are mutually exclusive to one another.

 

So called strawman purchases are not more than ten percent of the problem, there is a huge blackmarket in stolen firearms, which is where most criminals get their guns. Strawman purchases are already illegal in most states. It's seems your goal is to punish people before a crime is committed.

Lefties are afraid of guns. It is no more complicated than that. It isn't a giant conspiracy. Children and parents see other children in schools hosed down with bullets and they want it to stop. They see a bunch of people hosed down in a concert in Vegas and they want it to stop. They see young people hosed down in a night club and they want it to stop.

Used to think that the RW claims that gun grabbing is so they can take over and control more easily were conspiracy theories. I was wrong. That's exactly why they want to disarm the citizenry. If that was anything more than your orgasmic fantasy, why would the hard right want to arm everyone and then be faced by someone who could shoot back? I'm glad to live in a state that continues to limit access to weapons in civilian hands. One reason newly elected Gavin Newsom won so easily was his long-term resistance to the NRA. Newsom has already increased funding for gun confiscation from mentally ill and felons and has urged the state legislature to pass a law governor Brown vetoed last year.
