So, now you've just contradicted yourself. 7,500 MPH is a LOT slower than what you claimed previously and used as a basis for your false claim that the PATRIOT system would not be able to intercept the Kinzhal.

Acknowledge your mistake and we can move on.

How'd that work out dude? Buncha Kinzhals out, buncha Kinzhals down, for essentially no payoff.

Again: See the nice helpful pictogram? Use the nice helpful pictogram. You'd need to be much much faster or less detectable or able to use active and passive countermeasures.
Without that its still the same intercept formula. Math and physics. Dude.

I haven't heard much about missile attacks since. Have the orcs given up now that they've seen how useless the Kinzhal is against the PATRIOT?

They are all behind VPNs (despite VPNs officially being illegal in Russia) so I am sure the culprit will be back with a new account.

....there was a delay in the delivery of elastic bands from China....train de-railments by partisans are a bit of an issue for the Russians....

Hmm, why? Administration, after several years, understood, that he is one of several bot accounts here? Or because of Nazi l human hating behavior, common to all Russian chauvinists?

It can't be the latter, since the guy with the flag would have been long gone as well.

You are correct, 120 miles/s is something from fantastics. They specify Kinzhal with the speed of about 4 km/s, ie about 10 times of the sound speed. The Patriot systems are able to intercept the missiles that are flying with the speed less than 2.5 km/s. This brings me to the conclusion that either the specification of Kinzhal is terribly wrong, or that the intercepted missiles have not been of Kinzhal type. In fact all the ballistic missiles are hypersonic type, but the definition of hypersonic is broad - from 5 to 10M.

The Russian-Ukraine war is providing an excellent testing ground [Ed.: and air,] for modern weaponry. Munitions developers should be having good earnings reports.

Perhaps it's time for us to once again revisit Mr. George Bernard Shaw's play, Major Barbara.

    Regards, stay safe 'n well.

I'm not sure its all that good as a testing ground, especially for the 'big' items. Ukraine is mostly using hand me down major weapons systems, many of them Russian. Apart from HIMARS the stars of the show have been (relatively) low cost anti-tank missiles and drones. Good for those folks I guess, but small beans compared to flogging off tanks & jets.

The major arms exporter involved in this war is Russia. Fair to say it has been little short of a catastrophe there. With the exception of stuff like the S300 & S400, which were already known to be good, this war has shown Russian kit to be decidedly sub-par. Buyers always knew there was a degree of 'price v quality' tradeoff with Russian equipment, but not this much. While armour has suffered worst on the battlefield, reputationally the spectacular failure of Russian air power - which was thought to be among the better Russian gear - has probably hurt the most. To add insult to injury the war is sucking up all Russia's resources, so even exporting stuff to existing customers with contracts is not going well.

I suspect the people who will be happiest about these developments will be arms manufacturers in China, who may be able to swoop in and grab some of those Russian customers.

    Hi, bigfella.

Thank you for reading and replying to my post.

Your point is well taken. Major modern weapons systems, if employed en masse, would probably eliminate the testing field!

    Regards, stay safe 'n well.

Or perhaps Ukraine has a more capable Patriot? Or the Kinzhal(s) in question weren't traveling at their maximum speed?

My understanding is they have a weakness which the Patriot exploited. They need to slow way down when they are near the target so they can get an exact location and steer towards it. This is when a Patriot can take it out.

Yes, both options are possible as well. Anyway, I am happy that whatever was hitted, did not land on civilians.

The issue as to whether Ukraine is used as a testing ground for Western weapons systems is pretty much out there, i.e.,

    https://www.cnn.com/2023/01/15/politics/ukraine-russia-war-weapons-lab/index.html

    https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/...t-value-in-helping-test-us-military-equipment

    https://www.newsweek.com/ukraine-invites-weapons-test-russia-forces-defense-minister-1726243

    https://www.c4isrnet.com/cyber/2022...shaping-us-network-electronic-warfare-effort/

I think it is very safe to say Russia is testing new equipment as well as Ukraine.

I also think it safe to say Ukraine openly admits this test advantage if they get weapons as a way of getting weapons that might not otherwise would go to them. They say so. They don't hide telling countries, help us and the fringe benefit is you get to test your weapons. Ukraine is not stupid. They know damn well nobody sends them help simply out of goodness of their heart. Its just reality.

That need to test new weapons is a fuel that may prolong wars. How much it prolongs them, who knows.

So I agree certain weapons can't be tested they are just too sensitive to do that in the Ukrainian war, but many other weapons yes.

This war of attrition between Russia and Ukraine is Ukraine as a proxy showing Russia what will happen if it tries to take on NATO. Ukraine went into this war knowing it would be a proxy-it had no choice. No one would use their military to go up against Russia with them. So they have know choice but to be a proxy and weapons tester for NATO if they are to survive Russia's attempt to erase them from being independent.

So many Ukrainians will die so that the rest of the West will remain free of Russia and I for one think that makes it morally imperative to assist them.

Its a sad thing to see that we humans have not evolved past these battles of hegemony spurred by economic interests.

I think it is pitiful we have not evolved by now into representation of the people far better than what we have today but its life and life is bloody and unfair.

Ukraine has been abused and had its infrastructure ripped up but its hanging in and proving its not going to roll over.

So me for one, I just hope Putin is killed by his own people and in the ensuing vacuum someone moderate takes over to end this madness not someone as fascistic and brutal or worse than Putin.

Well, that is a dumb claim. No, the west is not giving its most advanced weapon systems to Ukraine so, no, the west is not testing anything in Ulraine. Ukraine has been given mostly older and not cutting edge systems because the west fears cutting edge stuff might get captured or even wreckage might tell Russia something. The most advanced stuff given to date are.. British Storm Shadow missiles and HIMARs? The HIMARs are from the early 1990's while Storm Shadows are... From the 2000's?

Exploding underwater drone set to be unleashed against Russian Navy

The Toloka TLK-150 glides along under the surface of the water, making it harder to spot and intercept

Ukraine will soon unleash a stealthy exploding robotic submarine against the Russian Navy.

The Toloka TLK-150 is the first underwater drone to be designed and built entirely in Ukraine and is the product of a new military-civilian partnership called Brave1.

Brave1 was tight-lipped when asked by The Telegraph about the capabilities of its new weapon but naval analysts said that it represents a major technological upgrade for Ukraine.

Dumb claims? Did I hear someone mention dumb claims? Like the patriot system that couldn't take down Iranian cruise missiles are all-of-a-sudden taking down ALL Kinzhals? The 7,500 mph Kinzhal?

Oh yeah, here's your 'kinzhal':laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing:

I saw someone claim that the Kinzhal travels at 120 miles/second the other day. That was pretty dumb.
