SO you will do what? CA as a state has the most restrictive ownership laws on the books, and how many mass shootings in CA has it stopped?

 

The people who were killed and wounded all had to face the active shooter. They had no choice. Are you glad they were unable to defend themselves?

Then you admit that most Americans should now be carrying concealed handguns to protect themselves and those around them from violent criminals.

Gun culture had nothing to do with this shooting. The killer was a pro-gun control activist.

 

American citizens being allowed to bare arms comes more under "Natural Law" aka "Law of Nature" than "Common Law."

It seems back when our founding fathers wrote the Bill of Rights they had Vattel's next to them and a dictionary.

You may be right, but I don't recall having seen any on the shotguns or other long barrel weapons. And of course, the ammo is right there with them.

I spent nine years documenting crime scenes. During that entire time, I worked one case that involved home protection with a firearm. The rest of the cases involving firearm deaths were domestic violence and accidental shooting cases and suicides. THAT is the reality of guns. I have no Hollywood illusions about gun ownership (and I am a lifelong hunter and gun owner).
Guns are not a panacea to the world's problems.

 

Are guns easy to get? Do you actually think that? More, you seem very afraid that you can't dictate who actually gets guns. And even those who you might suggest should have them, you often criticize because they used them. So, it seems unlikely that any solution that doesn't overly remove all guns would satisfy you. And then what? When others find you entirely defenseless what will you do? Who will protect you then?

 

What "weapon of war" are you referring to? Did he have an antitank gun we are unaware of?

I don’t have a gun now, and I haven’t been afraid that some anonymous bad guy of your imagining will “find me entirely defenseless”.

As a rule, I call the police. I know the Chief, the County Sherrif and the cop across the street, and the one who is the brother of my next door neighbor.

And I don’t watch the kind of TV where they spend all day spinning stories about imaginary people I need to be afraid of.

 

The shooter in Ohio killed 9 people and wounded over 20 more in less than 1 minute. So much for fallacy of "all we need are more good guys with guns" since we know from the empirical data the more guns the more gun violence.

 

A good guy with a gun stopped him.
