    I doubt Mr California is familiar with the work of the extreme right wing reporters on Sky here, like Peta Credlin for example.

    When you consider China's population (1.4 billion) to their GDP of $25T it's really pretty low compared to America's population of 3.31 million with a GDP of $21.7T. With Chin'a vast subsidies their GDP is quickly depleted.

    Used to be that way - and while GOP are still war hawks .. Blue has now whole heartedly joined the neocon club - and anyone who dissents is demononized and ostracized.

    Sad situation.

    While it is true GDP on a per person basis is lower in China - I can make no sense out of your comment that China's GDP is depleted by subsidies - nor come up with an overall point you are trying to make ?

    I was debating the issues re entrenched poverty, poverty reduction, and development via different systems:

    to repeat,

    China subsidizes housing, education, health and transport. Living costs are low in comparison to wages.

    In terms of GDP in PPP*, China is the largest economy in the world, with a GDP (PPP) of $25.27 trillion.

    * purchasing power parity

    Meantime you still have those "living in poverty...neighborhoods like war zones.." to deal with.

    ...........

    Your reply was "No the USA is still number one".

    Completely ignoring poverty reduction in China versus entrenched poverty in the US, not to mention 60% of Americans can't find $1000 from savings in an emergency, which is the very definition of chronic financial stress...and a factor behind the increasing political hyper-partisanship in the US. Not much point in being "number one", if your society is going to regress into ungovernable hyper-partisanship.

    Prove you are not a troll, by at least attempting to address these issues.....

    Seems we are getting personal now. BTW, in the USA one can get food and housing subsidies.

    The reality of chronic financial stress among a majority of the population, entrenched poverty - and increasing hyper-partisanship to the level un-governability, is nothing to do with "getting personal".

    Excuse me, but the part about, proving not to be a troll is the farthest from objectionable.
