"With liberty and justice for all" actually means something.. Or, are blacks, gays etc the exception? You do know that blacks and gays serve in the military, don't you? Trump is a draft dodger so perhaps he thinks those words are just another jingle.

    No percentage.

    Name some.

Democratic policies. The D's have done nothing for minority populations. Education in the inner city is deplorable.

Again what percentage of those convicted wrongly go to prison. What are the crimes they have committed ?? Disparate outcomes says nothing about causation.

How are they disrespecting the flag and what it stands for ?? You are really still asking that question ??

I missed that link. But McCain had a chance early on to go home but chose to stay. Did he do that to collaborate with NV ??

I think he did the right thing. If you want to protest fine but not when the anthem is played. They kneeled for a second then got up and sang the anthem. What drives me crazy about all this is the BS stand these guys think they're helping. Let me know when one, just one, goes and meets with the Chief of police or the board to help what they are sure is injustice. Heck they're well paid, some have big time sports names surely to gain attention, go have a sit down with the people that make the decisions and get in the process of change. If you want to act like a baby and whine like a child then don't get made when you get called out because the truth is your not doing squat.

Strong words Margot. If I remember right over 50% of all draft aged men applied for and were granted deferments during the Viet Nam War. That does not make them draft dodgers. The ones that slipped over into Canada to avoid going to Viet Nam were considered draft dodgers. I don't know you age but having read many of your posts I would say that if you were a poster back in those days you would have been a supporter of those who resisted the war and would have been praising their heroism.

"Hernandez is one of almost 30 NFL players arrested since this year's Feb. 3 Super Bowl, ESPN reported, citing a U-T San Diego database. Another 20 professional athletes have been charged with murder, homicide or manslaughter"

"Knight is best known as the president and CEO of Death Row Records, but his criminal career began when he was dropped from the Los Angeles Rams in 1987. He took up body guarding for rappers. Knight was also a member of Compton's Mob Piru Blood gang. Although never charged with murder, he was suspected of several killings including the murder of Brooklyn rapper The Notorious B.I.G.

This gang affiliation can work the other way around, when the player becomes the victim of gang violence. This happened in 2007 when Darrent Williams, a Denver Broncos cornerback, was shot in a drive-by on New Year's Day. Williams' killer rode in a vehicle registered to a Crip gang member.

In closing I leave you with this wise phrase often quoted by sages in these tough neighborhoods when speaking about these rags-to-riches stories. You can take the gangster out of the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto out of the gangster."

That could well be, but it is the right of Black Americans to assess which political party is more atuned to their interests, not for angry white guys to dictate that to them that they should support the overwhelmingly white parry.

You have not explained how peacefully genuflecting or joining arms in unity during the playing of the pre-game song disrespects the flag. That's the fake meme being hyped.

Yes. If you're not with them, you're with the KKK and any other white nationalist group they haven't heard of yet. Oh, and Trump.

Right, and during the National Anthem of all things... It makes as much sense as farting in a stranger's face to protest animal cruelty.

There aren't many people on this forum who can argue something and, unbeknownst to them, provide us with an example of their own accusations. Kudos.

What does playing a song before a game have to do with the game?

It creates a venue to celebrate the right of peaceful free expression that the tune and the flag symbolize.

Are you suggesting they stop playing the National Anthem at ballgames?

They offered to send McCain home. He wouldn't eave without the rest of the American POWs. Compare that to Trump's story about surviving STDs during the Vietnam years.

Yeah I was sunk when I saw my last glimmer of hope fade..... But when they rolled out the American Flag, every player on the team, and Jones, stood up for the flag and the National Anthem. The crowd went from booing to cheering. Jones was smirking because he knew he was about to dash the protesters dreams.

In my opinion, if they wanna kneel before the game starts, it's whatever. But they DO need to stand for the flag. The Cowboys did.

I remember the 60's quite well.... The nation achieved the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Blacks went on binges of rioting, burning, and looting for several years after that in large American cities, but the goals of making Black citizens completely equal before the law was achieved, and that was a very good and necessary thing.

By contrast, today, too many Blacks somehow think that they are entitled (because of slavery, which ended 152 years ago?) to think that the laws of this country don't require their observance , and that they should be able to ignore lawful requests made of them by police. With what other kind of mind-set could a thug-creep like 'Michael Brown' be considered some kind of martyr or role-model by ANYONE? The accounts of these incidents involving Blacks and the police are too numerous to recall here, but if you browse the internet you'll find enough factual reading material to keep you busy for days....

But now, because the roster of players in the NFL is approximately 75% Black, everyone is supposed to buy into the unsupportable, fictional nonsense that, somehow, Blacks are suppressed in the United States -- TODAY! Not in the early 1960's, but TODAY!

And the shame of it all is not that this is just a pile of contrived, hyperliberal bullshit. No. The real shame of it all is that anyone besides Blacks would roll over and actually believe it -- and then get on their KNEES to support this lie....

Hint: the only permissible form of discrimination allowed in the United States for over 45 years has been discrimination against WHITE people, called "Affirmative Action" -- but known to most of us as "Reverse-Discrimination"....

For some reason black Americans cannot figure out that they are being used by the party of goodness. It's breathtaking.

It's absolutely the correct interpretation. The NFL game in London last weekend some of the players took a knee for the Star Spangled Banner but stood at attention for God Save the Queen. The showed disrespect for the US but total respect for the UK.
