What does this have to do with evidence?
    Your editorializing is not evidence

Well....Heesen, Fedship, Lurssen and Bombardier et al have done exceedingly well out of the oligarchs...Not sure about the average Brit...House prices in central London have done very well out of them at the expense of those Brits that cannot afford the prices and the knock on effects in greater London and those counties bordering the M25. The tax take from those oligarchs living in London must be miniscule in that most of them are owned through shell corporations in the Caymen Islands, Isle of Mann and all the other tax havens. I'd like to see some of these so called "benefits"...

In my opinion, posts of Poohbear are pure jumble of words.

It is a thread about punishment of Russia (about sanctions against it) because it was "highly likely" that Russians have committed a crime.

But Poohbear writes in this thread about a Greek terrorist group, about North Korea, about "How many people get shot in America" etc.

And Poohbear diligently overlooks the question - Is it acceptable that somebody is punished only because it was highly likely that this somebody has committed a crime?

As for me, I find it absolutely unacceptable.

....aye there's no reason at all that the Russians should be sanctioned...such a law abiding country being much maligned for being such a law adibing country....

Yes, why punish Putin for the Ukrainian passenger airline disaster?

I mean - a Russian "Puk" missile doesn't mean anything, it could have been American Patriot missile!
and it was under the control of Russian soldiers, I mean... advisors/retired servicemen/volunteers. It could have been under American control!!!!
And the Russians...sorry, Ukrainian freedom fighters... cleared up the crime scene. It might have been Americans who did this?
And Putin won't allow the Europeans to interview the actors in this tragedy. Maybe the Americans are stopping these interviews?

It all adds up - anyone with half a brain can see it - it has America written all over it.

So too the Skripal murder attempt, so to the Anna Politkovskaya murder, so too the Alexander Litvinenko polonium murder and several hundred others who crossed Putin - it's all circumstantial.

    But here's the problem.
Putin won't co-operate in investigating these crimes - is he hiding his own complicity or is he hiding American involvement?

I suggest to all to stop reacting to posts of Poohbear in this thread.

In my opinion, Poohbear deliberately piles here one jumble of names, events etc. after another (Ukraine, Politkovskaya, Litvinenko etc.) with the purpose to prevent to discuss the subject of this thread.

And the subject of this thread, in my opinion, is - Russians are punished only because "it was highly likely" (as Theresa May says) that they have committed a crime.

My understanding is that most of sanctions have been piled upon Putin's oligarchs.
As it is I answer the posts, regardless of whether they are off-topic or not.

    Quote from Time.com
"Medvedev said that while the U.S. says that the sanctions are intended to punish Russia’s “bad” behavior, their real goal is to sideline a rival.

“It’s intended to remove Russia as a strong competitor on the international arena,” he said."

Russia is ONE TWENTIETH THE ECONOMIC SIZE OF AMERICA.
In what area could Russia compete with America? Oil, gas, timber?
In choosing to be once again ruled by "strong government" the Russian people made the unwritten pact - this is the loss of some freedoms in exchange for stability. In this unwritten accord there is another sting in its tail - with the loss of political freedoms comes the loss of economic freedoms, and with it long term economic security.

That's rich (no pun intended) - the Washington Post mentioning 'fake news'? lol The assassination of Seth Rich happened, and that's all I meant to get across to you - that it isn't only Russia that goes around assassinating its political undesirables??

Since you are admitting you are one of these "disgusting sociopaths" can
you give some evidence to your claims?
Why stop at one lowly Democrat? I wonder why Obama wasn't assassinated?
    And the Clintons?

A good scientific theory can make correct predictions.
    Who's next?
Do you think Elon Musk is going to get it? I mean, he's upset Wall Street with
his privatization of Tesla; upset the auto industry with Tesla; upset the aerospace
giants with SpaceX; upset the finance industry with PayPal; upset the power
    industry with SolarCity; upset the high speed rail manufacturers with HyperLoop;
upset the tunneling industry with the Boring Co. and next he might take on Air
Bus and Boeing with his electric planes.

I question whether the Russians did it because A) why would they use something that would directly link them and B) What was the point, the guy had been out of commission for many years and had already given the Brits any important info.

This kinda puts a nail.......yet one more of hundreds of nails in the idiotic notion that Trump is Putin's puppet. Trump serves himself and ONLY himself. Trump's best defense is his own narcissism.

    ]

Who knows how many more who weren't so high-profile, or were covered up? Or who would have got wasted if they didn't have friends in high places. We're talking power politics here, where nothing is off the table?

For the purpose of this exchange I have no comment to make on Musk, PayPal, SpaceX etc.

Or grant him repatriation (which he'd already requested) then do the deed in Moscow?

There's reliable evidence he was still active. But when you're a double-agent, active or not, you should expect the **** to hit the fan at some time in the future. It goes with the territory?

My opinion is that Putin doesn't GAF about who the POTUS is, least of all if it's Trump. I think Washington has got it all out of perspective and is obsessing unnecessarily.

This is my country - I was born here and have my family here, so why would I want to live anywhere else? [IMG]

He wasn't a double agent. Once you are burned your burned any wild conspiracies of him still being active are just that, wild conspiracies. The Brits aren't going to trust anything sensitive to a former Russian spie and the Russians aren't going to trust him either so whether he gave information to day that was either true or fake is irrelevant because no one would take his word for it.

Accuse the other person of the thing you're guilty of - propaganda 101.

Fact is, policies that escalate tensions between the US and Russia increase the probability of nuclear war. You and other Russia-haters are risking the existence of human civilization over absolutely nothing. Posterity will judge you accordingly.
