The dirty little secrete is.....obamacare was a stimulus package as well as a healthcare package. Welfare programs are ,Ike that before the cops knocking at your door. Thousands of new jobs were created in the healthcare field. Universal healthcare does the same for other countries.

The only way to pay retirees more in the future is to spend less on other items in the budget

I know you want to redifine SS as a welfare program but that is contrary to what it was originally

No......It’s ALWAYS been a federally run retirement income insurance plan for seniors. Look up the definition on line st SS itself or in any dictionary, even a real old one.

Who needs help more then seniors who are in poorer health and can’t work as much anymore. When dead and starving seniors littered the streets as a response to the Great Depression , it was voted in, in in 1935 . Wonder why you want to see seniors dying there streets.

You’re using the word comfortable. It appears no where in its definition., we have recessions ALL OF THE TIME, it’s to help seniors remain alive during one along with Medicare when for profits drop them from the rolls because they become too expensive to keep alive. If seniors are smart and have good jobs...their SS checks can support the local golf course. Because golfers live longer, it still saves lives. No one can remember when the gov. Failed to provide SS checks on time.
Private Ins, companies fk up all the time.

Saving lives is Marxism when it’s voted on by duly elected politicians ? I missed that definition of Marxism.

For maximum....It’s self limiting......you can’t get an infinite amount of money by working longer then 24 hrs a day, 365 days a year. You get a limited number of quarters.

From aaarp...there is a minimum number of retirement units you need to qualify.

“Most Americans qualify for Social Security after about 10 years of working. Once you qualify, the amount of money you receive in Social Security benefits depends on a complex formula that converts your historical wages into current dollars and then adjusts that number lower at specific income levels, or "bend points."

If repubs are wrong and SS as its currently structured will not go broke then you have nothing to worry about

But if they are right then benefits will have to be cut

Low income people pay the same percentage of their salery as high income in the system.
Then, when receiving benefits, if they are still too close or below the poverty level still, it’s adjusted upward. So, you’d like SS recipients to die of starvation ?

Just admitt it, you’d like to return to pre 1935 and let the working poor die quickly so you don’t stumble over them.
Like most anti welfare, they think the poor are hording all the money, while the rich inheritance queens don’t have enough.

I would prefer that low income people make better choices when they are young so they do not depend solely on SS when they get old

Go tell those who lost their job in the W Virginia coal mines, now suffering from black lung, “ you should have made better choices when you were young.” Should have moved when you were twelve, or 18...pick a number. .
