    Its finally happening.

DoJ will ban the manufacture, use and possession of "bump stocks".

These are accessories to semi-auto rifles that facilitate automatic-like fire.

They were used by the Las Vegas killer to mow down hundreds of people and kill more than 50.

Those currently possessing them will be required by law to destroy them or return to manufacturer.

I would think the usual suspects on this forum will be pissed off and call out Trump for allowing their freedoms to be infringed upon.

Personally I don’t see the point of the ban. On the other hand it doesn’t bother me as I have no need/use for bump stocks.

What about trigger cranks? They serve the same function.

they should all be banned as they clearly function to circumvent Federal law

As usual, the OP misrepresents the facts:

The Justice Department confirmed that a proposed rule to ban bump stocks was sent late last week to the Office of Management and Budget for review. After a review that could last up to 90 days, the proposal will be published in the Federal Register, inviting public comment.

    It's a proposal, nothing more.

The link in the OP already stated as such. Your post isn't news breaking.

perhaps due to the technical details of bump stocks, their ease of use?

Its a proposal that has the support of President Trump and no resistance from the NRA. It'll pass.

Perhaps - but this does not change the willful mis-statements found in the OP.

Further, the post-facto requirement to divest of existing devices violates the constitution.

Trigger cranks are easier to both install and use, and they're cheaper. They're both not much more than toys, which is why no one is raising a stink about it.

It seems likely to me this is the grand result of all the hubbub after the florida shooting- where Trump told Feinstein and gang to draw up a bill with everything they wanted, which amounted to an effective annulment of the 2A, and was then retreated to backrooms where the press wouldn't let on just how far the GCers actually want to go, because if that got out, support would plummet... This is what they actually got. Bump stocks. LOLOLOL!!!!! Bump stocks.

I wonder who the anti-gun loons will blame when the next LV-style shooter uses a legally-transferred belt-fed machine gun.

That will probably change in the 'public comment' phase. Bump-stocks will become illegal to buy/sell/make.

...which is also unconstitutional, just like making marijuana or machine guns illegal. But since when has that stopped 'us'?

Oh... forgot the part where the owners of existing bump-stocks, if required to turn them in, must be fairly compensated.

I expect a law suit over this. its idiotic. but then again, but for the idiotic ban on automatics, bump stocks would never exist

your own words prove you want to ban things rarely used in crime

find one post of mine where I said blacks should be banned from owning guns. this sort of childish dishonesty is getting old.
