Impeach him because why? You do realize there is a process for leaving NATO don't you?

It becomes a very different relationship when there is no participation in European defense direction by us.

This case along with Brexit and the Russian fake news assaults in Europe and America are Putin's attempt to weaken western governments and alliances.

These are cornerstones in our defense.

There are processes for doing lots of things.

There is a process for launching a nuclear strike.

Well I think it's time Trump shows some gratitude for all the help winning the election  Besides let Europe build their own army... if they are so concerned about Russia what is stopping them from taking over NATO and calling EUTO

    NATO is no longer needed.

If the Russians invade Europe we will simply jump in and fight against them.

Why people think that having NATO is the only way to protect Europe is stupid.

We didn't have NATO in the two world wars we fought over there but this time we won't do anything if we don't have NATO?

Besides, if these European nations have not built up their defenses in all this time to stop Russia it means they've been relying on us which is even a bigger reason for us to cut ties.

Let them fend for themselves until they are almost beaten then we will storm in and save the day as always.

The purpose of NATO is to block Russian military and political progress in Europe.

Waiting for a military invasion is a total failure at that.

And how does NATO block political progress exactly?

Can't wait to hear this one.

Really? You have to ask THAT???

By working to keep the US and Europe on the same page, working together against this enemy of our nation.

Attempts to subvert one nation (through any means) are reduced when we have a unified strategy.

So you don't have any actual examples just like I thought you wouldn't.

    Gotcha

And why is Russia the enemy again?

    When did this happen?

I thought the Cold War ended.

You have quite a lot of hate built up towards the Russian people for some reason.

    You should look into that.

The peacetime in Europe and their border with Asia has been a DRAMATIC change from everything that happened before NATO.

And, NATO is the reason for that.

Russia hasn't been NOT the enemy as of the end of WWII. And, Putin says as much with his statements concerning eastern Europe rightfully being either part of Russia or strongly and exclusively aligned with Russia.

Russia has way too much money invested all over Europe to risk a war over it.

Tell me what they would possibly gain by that?

We are a global society now and a war with Europe would hurt them far more than help even if they did manage to pick up some extra territory.

The end to trading and the seizing of their asset's alone would bankrupt them, not to mention the cost of the war itself.

I don't believe you folks have thought this through.

Hell, it was Russia that bailed out Iceland during their huge financial crisis.

I think many of you actually want to create a war with Russia for some odd reason.

How about reform it, not leave it. I don't know about you, but I don't want the world returning pre WW2 status. I'm a non interventionist but wanting to keep alliances is not warmongering. That is completely ridiculous.

Because it would be more likely that a world war starts if there is less guaranteed backup in the region. A war in Europe will effect the US substantially, whether or not we are directly involved. Having a defensive alliance is in everyone's best interest. I don't dislike Russia. In fact I would love it if they joined. Europe needs to give their dues though.

Germany's number one trade partner and investment source in 1914 was France.

Why would they risk losing all the money they invested and their trade by going to war?

It would be a very bad idea for us to leave NATO.

Your Impeachment at the drop of a hat meme is really getting tiresome and irksome.

If you want to try the "they couldn't afford it" argument, please cite some serious analysts for support.

It's time to dismantle the imperialist postwar order.

WWI clearly showed that entangling alliances make war less likely, but absolutely catestrophic when it breaks out.

That's the biggest bunch of hog wash I have heard this year. Trump has no intention of leaving NATO. He brought it up many months ago to get NATO to put in their fair share. That is over when NATO did.

Sounds like a textbook leftist description of the CIA a few short years ago before all this political disruption and leftists demanding perpetual war.

A not so innocent abroad: Trump gets NATO allies to pony up

According to many in the media hyperventilating prior to the event, President Donald Trump’s sit-down with our NATO allies at the NATO summit in Brussels could not result in anything but disaster. ( When has the main media ever tell you the truth about Trump?)

Russia is not the USSR. They have an economy the size of spain's. Mostly based upon fossil fuels.

People seem to forget the USSR, the communist revolution is long gone. Russia is just another nation, with fossil fuels, and not an economic power house. Not enough treasure to be another nazi germany, with its expansion.

    Get real.

Trump has questioned NATO for years. So this is not new, no more than his position on crappy trade deals where we gave away the store.

Trump must have listened closely to Perot, who predicted our fate as a nation of working people.

NATO has outlived its original purpose. Let europe man up and finance their own militaries. We are in unsustainable and growing debt.
