    Trump has a unique way of being right and wrong in the same sentence.

    According AG Energiebilanzen, a Germany energy-research group, 59% of Germany's energy consumption comes from oil and gas, with the other 41% coming from coal, renewable sources, and nuclear power. That puts roughly 20% of Germany's energy mix coming from Russian oil and gas, a high percentage but certainly short of the 60% to 70% that Trump suggested.

    “Germany is totally controlled by Russia … They will be getting between 60 and 70 percent of their energy from Russia and a new pipeline, and you tell me if that is appropriate because I think it's not,” Trump said.

    I know, I know, he's just stupid. He didn't really mean that. He meant gas.

    She is like that mayor of San Juan biting the hands that feed her. The mayor is prettier.

    While the American media portrayed Merkel as standing up to President Trump, the reality is we have bases in Germany and the Germans have none here.

    As long as Germany is unable to defend itself, it is not an independent nation.

    Surprisingly, the best leverage President Trump has is closing those bases. Merkel's government -- already shaky because of her open borders policy -- would collapse if we began pulling out of those 37 bases.

    Kaiserslautern and Wiesbaden would be ghost towns like Nitro, West Virginia, when the chemical plants closed.

    And the two are related. While we built up our military to protect Europe, Europe built up its economy. We were covering some of their costs of being an independent nation.

    How would they reach them if they did? The have four war planes that can fly, zero submarines in service, and
    German Navy Running Out of Combat Vessels, Will be Unable to Operate Overseas in Future.

    Six of the Navy's fifteen frigates were already decommissioned, while “none of the new Type-125 frigates are able to join the navy.”

    The Navy was forced to wait five months to receive relatively simple equipment, fuel injection pumps, or six months to relieve oil coolers for its frigates which seriously stalled operations. As a result the official warned: Germany's ability to project power at sea would grind to a halt.

    As a mutual defense "ally", Germany is a free-loading farce.

    Germany gets about a third of its gas from Russia. The European Union imports 69% of its natural gas, according to the European Commission. The latest available data show that 37% of the imported gas comes from Russia, about 33% from Norway and 11% from Algeria.

    Interestingly enough, Germany has been receiving energy resources from Russia dating back to the early 2000's, long before Putin had an issue with this. Germany is the most powerful country in the entire EU, Merkel is basically keeping the union together, and Trump is worried about Russia? Also, the US spends much more per capita on defense than Germany, France or even Canada for that matter.

    The Donald has been trumped once again. Article fail.

    Makes total sense.
