We should always work to make people more free, not less. I'm pretty sure the Taiwanese will not be more free under Chinese rule.

I don't think there is much we can do for either Taiwan or Ukraine, but we definitely can't go to war over them.

 

Oh. Well we can't win a war with either of those adversaries, Russia or China. Not only will we lose badly, they are both nuclear powers and that's an extra danger. The stakes have to be pretty high to risk war with a nuclear power.

if you know any chinese history, in 40-50s, ccp had the support of mass. mainly they take over and distribute the wealth, they were see as better than KMT. KMT had the support of US and better equipment, they lost, cause they lose the support of masses. look at tawian, after KMT flee it put marshall law till 87.

Actually, I made an excellent comparison.

It's amazing and scary what government policy can do in a few decades to radically change racial demographics.

In 1950, Whites were 90% of the US population. In 2020 Whites were 60% [and most of those are beyond child-bearing age.] The future of a country's racial demographics depends upon who is immigrating and who is having the most children.

That's really a long discussion. One on one, and unit to unit, in a theoretical match up; like if you transported the US Army vs either the Russians or Chinese to Battleworld, the US wins hands down.

But in the real world, the US has a long vulnerable logistics train to either theater. In a China-US match, we won't even have a base of operations to operate from (Taiwan being compromised of course) and in the Ukraine, we are dependent on a NATO in which many of the nations are dependent on Russian gas.

There is also the even larger question of political support for either war at home. Sorry but once the draft starts, riots and unrest in the US will end our participation maybe before our enemies do.

Well that's primarily a result of immigration, not birthrates. The Chinese are not in the slightest entertaining the idea of massive non Han immigration to China.

 

In a county that has little or no immigration, who has the most children is even more critical to future demographics.

The original meaning of the word, nation, is a country that is homogenous = people who share the same race, culture, religion, language, traditions, heritage, history and territory. Why would a draft be implemented? The U.S. has large enough conventional forces to put hundreds of thousands into combat without bothering with a draft.
