Well, by all means continue fitting people into your perceived boxes while being outraged at commercials. Sounds like a fun life you got, sport.

    When I don't like an ad (and there are plenty of them that I don't like for various reasons, mostly because they are too stupid), I avoid buying that product.

    No one is forcing you to watch the ad, and no one is forcing you to buy the product.

    No one said anyone is being forced to buy anything. We're discussing the ad, which if you didn't realize, this is a form for just doing things like that. No one forced you to respond either.

    The issue isn't legality and it isn't even political. It is a commentary on the advertising industry. Someone above suggested that a commercial should aimed at creating or enhancing interest in the product or service. Yes it should be that way. Ads should be informative.

    I marvel at the automobile ads I see on TV. They never seem to suggest why I should buy the car. They attempt to make someone believe that by driving the car one will enter a new world of sophistication. That is drivel as we all know. Even the brand of car I own - Subaru - advertises its support of pets. Did support of pets have anything to do with choosing that brand of car? They are lucky I went through with the purchase despite the awful advertising. I support and own pets as well. But they don't help anyone choose a car.

    If we remove the constitutional and political aspects of the OP, it makes perfect sense.
