The electoral college is a huge corrupt advantage for the GOP Tama just like their reconciliation and filibuster rules all they care about is cutting taxes on the rich and services for everyone else which only takes 51 votes with reconciliation. While the Democrats need 60 votes in the Senate to pass reform. What a scam and catastrophe for regular people...

Republic is defined as a representative democracy. Another false myth from the GOP propaganda machine. The popular vote should be all-important and Republicans should stop suppressing minority voters in many ways. The GOP is the swamp obviously to anyone who doesn't listen to The GOP propaganda machine endlessly....

So the exact count is off? Big deal, the rest is accurate and your own source gives conflicting counts. As far as credibility goes, you vote Democrat so you may not want to cast stones.

The geographic argument (for and against) the EC is an imprecise one. The real heart of the matter is cultural. We have two very distinct and increasingly politically incompatible cultures scattered throughout our nation- urban vs rural. While people from these cultures are (generally) more than happy to get along with eachother socially, they want politically opposite policies to govern their not-so-similar ways of life. A purely democratic governance WILL oppress the rural minority, and Constitutional governance DOES undermine the Will of The People.

The only equitable (and likely peaceful) solution is for these two cultures to find a way to be politically independent from eachother.

Personally, I think the best way to accomplish this is return more authority to the states and to promote a largely democratic re-boundarying of the states into more culturally similar groups. This will of course be complicated and an imperfect solution, but it beats the likely alternative of violent conflict.

What does trump winning '3084 counties' mean?

That aside, I think USA has lost much credibility to the world and may also be placed alongside China (and N Korea) as another undemocratic authoritarian state since an unpopular person (one who has lost the popular vote) is able to become President of USA. Means u have an undemocratic electoral system which reduces the moral legitimacy of the USA.

Nice opinion. Our founding fathers were wise to implement it.

Why do you want people who don't know how to do anything for themselves to make decisions for productive people who make the country work?

We live in a Republic. Don't worry. Your cheats will be stunned when Trump runs the EC table by winning the popular vote. The Wile E. Coyotes of the US political class are about to have their heads handed to them. I may even watch the debate tonight since that's about the only excitement we'll be treated to this election season. Impeachment and 24/7 negative Dem narratives have driven Trump to an RCP of 46%. Wait 'til the Dem field exposes themselves tonight.

Democrats only care about the electoral college because they think it cost them 2 elections.
If they tell you otherwise, they're lying.

huh? The overwhelming vast majority of business, manufacturing and every other economic metric comes from population centers.

The overwhelming majority of people in NYC don't own cars. They take cabs, subways and buses. They thought nothing of Mike taking away their salt and pepper, and soda, because they don't think for themselves.

A little way north, Bernie lived in mommy's basement and didn't collect a paycheck until he was 40. His first job at 40 was mayor. His wife bankrupted a college. But that's OK, radicals only have to talk a big game and call other liberals like bloomberg 'entitled' and denigrate people who create things uneducated.

Thanks for posting BS, that has been debunked 10,000 times over.

This thread belongs in the Conspiracy or Humor Section.

The thing about Counties Won 3084 to 57 has been Debunked (and Discredited) so many times, that I find it unfathomable that anybody would even reference that Absurd Claim outside of the Humor Section.

In fact, that discredited claim about 3,084 to 57 was thoroughly debunked just a few weeks after the election.

That claim was woefully wrong. Although Donald Trump did win the popular vote in a significantly larger number of counties than Hillary Clinton did, the margin was not so one-sided. Vote tallies by county differ depending on the standards used, but an Associated Press tally of the actual ratio pegged it at 2,626 to 487, not 3084 to 57

    https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/trump-clinton-counties-won/

Nothing personal, but it isn't a good look to be repeating a FAKE Narrative that was thoroughly debunked in 2016.:bored:

But, yeah, Zero Chance of the EC ever changing b/c the GOP controls too many state legislatures.

    Unpopulated areas don't have voters.

that's my point. Wide open unpopulated empty space is what you guys keep showing in your election maps to make it look like a sea of red across the country. And that's my point in that a single vote in Wyoming carries 3 times the weight of a single vote in California.

Ferigners will never understand we are a blend of
    popular and geographical Democracy.

    Electoral_College.jpg

    And a 3/5ths Compromise too ;)

BTW when was the last time France had a President
who wasn't from the Paris area?
    Some Democracy!
France would benefit forming a New Republic with an EC too.

Population centers were created by the almighty. People who live in NYC had nothing to do with the NY Harbor. The port of LA was a gift from god that is being destroyed by the people you want to run the whole country. SF was another gift being destroyed by the people you want to run the US.

The people you think are so smart built the LA River to route rain and melt water in abundance for 3 months out to the Pacific so they can irrigate crops for 9 months. The EC forces candidates for President to campaign in the whole country, not just the population centers. The bulk of the country is not like NYC, Chicago or LA. It is diverse requiring diverse skills. People are leaving the great climate of the west coast for sanity. That should say something.

You'll find that Trump didn't campaign in your population centers, leading to the popular vote shortfall that didn't matter. He won PA for the first time in my politically aware life. Bloomberg gave him another PA win.

Big deal, the count varies the rest is correct. Maybe it's a "vast RW conspiracy" complete with false flags and RW plants? Any idea how your constant claims of such, look?

I don't know why you keep posting this that doesn't address anything I said.
this was true 150 years ago. It's not true anymore. EVERYONE has 24/7 access to every candidate and their platforms.
what is says is that the red states they are migrating to are now purple states, and will become blue states.
again, every person has 24/7 access to the campaigns.

I don’t necessarily agree that the EC needs to be removed — it does need reforms to take it back to its original premise however — but saying that vacant land should have more consideration than actual voters is a very very poor way to justify it.

When you have votes in some area of the country that count the same a five voters because they live over an imaginary line — something is wrong.
