That's a halfway reasonable point, but they were charged and most pleaded guilty and apologized. No prominent Republican supported it and most openly condemned it. Trump himself told them to go home, if too tardily. I don't think he wanted them entering the building and making asses of themselves and fighting the cops. Trump loves cops.
Plus by their actions they stalled the certification challenges which persuaded certain Congress members to change their minds. It's highly unlikely that Trump wanted that to happen since he believed he had a chance of succeeding through that method.
So what is it you do? Again. you don't get excused for a crime that went so badly it actually LOST you money (or votes, whatever)
Who is excusing it? We are nearly unanimous in the poll. The question is whether it was 1) a brief and inconsequential riot, or 2) an insurrection.
WHY does an insurrection have to be a heavily armed and well-planned military operation? Trump called several thousand people together and had them terrorize the Congress, that's good enough for me.
I have presence of mind to know that it wasn't an insurrection. I have presence of mind to know that per America's constitution (which has happened on various occasions) to dispute an election. I have presence of mind that Trump was within his right to ask for an audit, and I have the presence of mind Trump is a big kid and wasn't happy with the result. I also know that the democrats utterly utterly utterly utterly utterly utterly utterly utterly hate Trump that much, that they flogged the **** out of impeachment and are banking on Jan 6th to have been on insurrection. They fought him every day before his election, they fought him every day during his presidency, and they've fought him every day after his presidency. We all know they will fight him for centuries after his death because the Democrats have been triggered by him of a magnitude greater than the big bang. I would say 95%+ of threads on American forums about Trump were/are started by Lefties. If you detest someone, you would blank them, but Lefties mouth froth about Trump every minute of their lives.
I actually do see your point: noun a violent uprising against an authority or government. By the above definition, it probably qualifies. The word "insurrection" has always connoted something more serious in ambition, planning, execution, support and effect. By the above definition, every school board screaming match, and even OWS and the dumb occupation of the statehouse in Wisconsin by school teachers beating tambourines and drums, every sit-in at Evergreen University's dean's office is an "insurrection."
In a sense, yes. It might not be legally prosecutable as such, but this is. They attacked the Capitol and terrorised everyone inside, that qualifies as an egregious and seditious act and I don't see how that is disputable.
You have diverted this discussion so successfully that I'm wondering what the heck you are talking about. Your handlers must be proud... divert... get vague... bury the subject... great leftist tools.
What does that mean? It looks to me like you took one post of his out of context, that may be facetious to boot, and you concluded he was a liberal or a leftist. I notice you made the same insinuation about me in the Covid thread. I think you're just looking for an excuse to be insulting or something.
You don't have to be armed to have an insurrection. All you need is the intention to disrupt the government And they had caches of arms throughout the area. Indeed being unarmed at first was part of a well thought out plan by some.
In the sense of agreeing with Trump that the election was stolen quite a few Republicans did support it and still do. They should all get cells next to their hero IMO.
