I guess it depends on your standards. Every single one of us is pampered compared to people in Niger, but I don't think you really want to use them as your standard.

And higher after tax incomes that would result with lower FICA taxes, stronger unions, better overtime laws and the like.

So we cut SS benefits especially to those who don't pay into the retirement system?

How are you going to force unions on people and how will you make up for the job losses?

    Like what better overtime laws?

Earn what? You make no sense. So how do you make sure successful people don't earn money?

Well the Republicans lowered taxes on the poor and middle class didn't they but how does that redistribute something to them? You are simply taking less of what they have from them.

Again how does that redistribute something to someone else. You seem to think that if you don't take something from someone that they already own you are distributing it to them.

    That is totally fallacious.

Letting someone keep their own money and earnings and profits is not distributing it to them.

Define a decent living wage and why do you think someone is OWED one and why is someone else obligated to give them one?

Our poor eat themselves to death.

Not because the middle and lower classes have considerably less income and wealth and a lower standard of living than the rest of the First World.

While the occasional bath salts incident occurs, it's not the norm. ;)

In the regular HDI, we're ranked 4th in the world.

In the IHDI (inequality-adjusted HDI), we're ranked 23rd.

According to the report, the IHDI is a "measure of the average level of human development of people in a society once inequality is taken into account. It captures the HDI of the average person in society, which is less than the aggregate HDI when there is inequality in the distribution of health, education and income. Under perfect equality, the HDI and IHDI are equal; the greater the difference between the two, the greater the inequality." In that sense, "the IHDI is the actual level of human development (taking into account inequality), while the HDI can be viewed as an index of the potential human development that could be achieved if there is no inequality.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_inequality-adjusted_HDI

In effect, the IHDI is a truer measure of the average person's quality of life in a country. The regular HDI is more of a theoretical measure.

America has its advantages, but there are notable areas where we lack. Affordability of healthcare is a big one. Affordability of college is another.

Where we have advantages involves a lower cost of food, lower fuel costs, and lower real estate costs (in most cases).

No, your blatantly false claim that "the don't pay FICA it gets reimbursed to them."

Prove your assertion that middle class families get reimbursed for FICA.

Of course not. We cut them for millionaires who don't need it.

The 1% will have to take a cut.

A decent living wage is one where the middle classes share in the growth of income and wealth of the American pie, and not just the 1%.

You don't. You make sure that people who work for a living are paid more of what the value of labor is worth, and not what what the market is for an individual. And you can raise the minimum wage.

False mythology. Reagan raised the FICA taxes the poor and middle classes pay. FICA went from about 12% to 15% overall. The income tax cuts did redistribute anything to the poorer because they didn't pay income taxes in the first place. They paid FICA. Which were raised.

That's how you redistribute income and wealth from the middle classes to the 1%.

    Explained above.

It's all a question of who gets it in the first place.

Trickle down policies have made sure the 1% get more and more of the pie.

Only foolish or ignorant people say wealthy people are evil........God is and was and will never be against wealth. Those who say wealthy people are evil fail to see that what Jesus was talking about was the attitude of some people with money......their wealth caused them to be proud and arrogant.

If wealth was evil then Jesus would be a hypocrite because He said everything will be added to anyone who seek the kingdom of Heaven and His righteousness first. The Bible says the New City of Jerusalem that will come down from Heaven will be made of transparent gold and the streets will be made of gold.

The 1%er version of God. God loves rich guys. That's why it is so cool for church leaders to get rich off their flocks.

Here is Jesus telling everyone just how much God loves the rich:

"Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

eye or hole defined = http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=G5169&t=KJV

    needle = http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=G4476&t=KJV

Contrary to your belief, the Bible indicates eye or hole of an actual needle, not a canyon.

As for the invention of the needle read this:

Even a small thing like a hand sewing needle has had a role in the history of humans. Some facts and history about the hand sewing needle:

The first sewing needles were made from bone and were used to sew animal hides together. The oldest known bone ones were found in what is now southwestern France and has been estimated to be over 25,000 years old.
Needles made from copper, silver and bronze were used in ancient Egypt.
The oldest iron needle known was found in what is now Germany, and dates back to the 3rd century B.C.E.
Bookbinders and shoemakers used ones made from hog bristles in the Middle Ages.
Native Americans used porcupine quills and the pointed end of agave leaves for sewing needles. The fibers of the agave leaf were also used for thread.
Metal needle making was perfected by Muslims in Spain in the 11th century. Spanish Muslims were some of the most knowledgeable medical doctors in the world at the time, and had perfected many surgical techniques that required needles for suturing.
When the Muslims were driven out of Spain in the 15th century, they took the knowledge of needle making with them to Arab lands. Muslims returned to making them, and Arab traders took them to Europe.
Europe learned the art of needle making from Arab needle makers, and it came to England in the 17th century. Before this time, metal needles were made in Europe by the local blacksmith, and resulted in very crude needles.
The knowledge of needle making was also used to make fish hooks in England. The country became well known for high quality fish hooks as well as sewing needles in the middle of the 17th century.
Metal needles were handcrafted before the industrial age. The process began with cutting wire long enough to make two needles. Then points were ground on either end of the wire, the wire was flattened in the middle and eyes punched out. The needles were then separated. This operation is still followed today, but machines now do the work instead of humans.
Around 1850 needle making machines began producing needles and turned needle making from a cottage industry into an industry done in factories. By 1866 there were 100 million needles being made in England a year.
The English town and district of Redditch in central England became the center of the world's needle production in the 19th century. The craftsmanship of the needles made there was so great that a foreign manufacturer sent a hypodermic needle to Redditch claiming that it was smaller than Redditch needle makers could produce. The needle was sent back to the manufacturer with a needle made by Redditch craftsman so small that it fit inside the foreign manufacturer's!
Needle making is still being done in the Redditch area and other places in England.

Right wing revisionist history is nothing more than a drugged up delusion just like your stories about WMD in Iraq or nukes in Iran. It is time for you to grow out of your fairy tales and mysticism and to learn to speak and write the Truth.

No! What Jesus said went over your head. Abraham was a rich man and Jesus said he will be in the kingdom of God. So obviously you fail to see what Jesus was really addressing.

The Rich Young Ruler [Matthew 9:16-24]

And someone came to Him and said, “Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may obtain eternal life?” 17 And He said to him, “Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.” 18 Then he *said to Him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “You shall not commit murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; 19 Honor your father and mother; and You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 20 The young man *said to Him, “All these things I have kept; what am I still lacking?” 21 Jesus said to him, “If you wish to be [j]complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” 22 But when the young man heard this statement, he went away grieving; for he was one who owned much property.

23 And Jesus said to His disciples, “Truly I say to you, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” 25

The rich man was instructed that to be complete, he had to give his worldly possessions to the poor. This he would not do beause he loved him money more than he loved his neighbor. That is why it is hard Jesus said "it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God"

God loves rich guys? It doesn't appear to me that God cares at all if you are rich. What matters is whether you love God and your neighbors more than your money.

Which based on my experience I would have to agree with Jesus, would make it hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom indeed.

Jesus knew what that rich man's problem was and He went right straight to it.......his attitude was his problem not his wealth.

If Jesus was against wealth he would not have said to the rich man that if he gave his wealth to the poor he would have treasure in Heaven. If you noticed Jesus never said it was impossible for a rich man to enter the kingdom of Heaven.....Jesus said it was hard. It is possible for a rich man to enter the kingdom of Heaven with God's help...read verse 26. If you think that having wealth is wrong just because of what Jesus said, then would you say that its wrong for people to bury their dead?

    Matthew 8:21-22 (KJV)
21 And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
22 But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

One principle applies to both Matthew 8:21-22 and Matthew 19:21-21…..our attitude/priority.

I agree Jesus didn't literally say it was impossible for a rich man to go to heaven, just that it is easier to put a camel thru the eye of a needle.

Those who love their money more than their neighbors and God are making it thru the eye.

Are you claiming that obesity amongst the poor is a rare occurance like bath salts incidents? Else what is your point?

The poor get free health care and Pell Grants and other funds to go to college. But if you are serious about making college more affordable then get the government out of the business of funding it. Like anything else as soon as government says it is unaffordable and that it will divert more tax money to it, the tuition's go up.
