They didn't check the evidence first. And, unfortunately, they now lead the party. The entire party is ruled by lunatic conspiracy theorists who think that Trump won the election and support his attempts to steal it.

Sounds like a real word, and yes, Biden was the electee. The voters elected him, and Trump was unable to steal the election after losing.

To be clear, you think the electorate voted for Trump as prez over Biden?

Enemies of democracy? I can think of a couple of things.

“News” from our major media that is politically biased.

And a lack of term limits on members of Congress.

Depends on if you mean foreign or domestic. Domestic? Trump and his followers are, by far, the biggest threat to democracy. Bar none.

Political bias or an editorial stance is one thing (MSNBC, CNN, NYT, Wa Po), distorting the truth to achieve a political agenda (Faux) is something else.

Fun fact: The people who call Trump's claims of election fraud a lie also believe that 5 people died because of the events of January 6th, even though the facts indicate otherwise. These people also believe that Trump colluded with Russia, even though the facts indicate otherwise. Their reliance on empirical data depends on which side of the argument they are on.

The biggest threat to democracy IMHO is TRIBALISM. The democratic process is about people electing leaders to achieve goals an enact policies that make the country stronger and the lives of the people better. The problem is TRIBALISM has corrupted that process and made it into something like a sporting event where we cheer for our sides blindly. Republicans and Democrats have been driven to a frenzy by television, social media etc and are fighting for causes that are irrelevant. They have no idea what policies are necessary to achieve those goals and the impact of them. We see tons of threads on inflation but nothing about the policies that cause them or the policies to combat them. We see tons of threads about passing infrastructure bills and spending bills but no real discussion on why or should the federal government be building roads or internet infrastructure. We see lot of anti China talk but no one seems to understand what the options are and the impact of those actions. Tribalism has made it easy because the other side is the enemy and everything they want and do is bad. That means everything our side wants and does is good. The politicians have brain washed the masses into this simplistic world view and while the masses bicker they do nothing but kill time and enrich themselves. Just look at how many posters on this forum never open their eyes to the stupidity their side does WITHOUT pointing to something they equate as equal on the other side to justify their support of it. It never seems to occur to some people to just look at the policy or action and say both sides are wrong and I do not support either.

I believe that there were more ballots counted for Biden than Trump. It is the number of actual electorate votes in some states that is questionable.

There should never have been absentee voting.

The implementation of absentee voting during the Civil War was only meant for soldiers, not for the rest of the public. Absentee voting in that circumstance was justifiable, because, you know, they were fighting a war and stuff. In the 2020 presidential election, it was way beyond that scope. It is a fact that there is a positive correlation between the amount of absentee voting and fraud: the more absentee voting, the more fraud. Do the math.

The number of deaths attributed to the 1/6 riot depends on your point of view on the officers who committed suicide after the event.

Did five people die because of the events of January 6th?

How many people died because of the events of January 6th?

    Answer the question.

I fully agree with your sentiment, but you too are confusing absentee balloting with "mail-in" balloting. Normal absentee balloting is pretty tightly controlled and has caused very few problems for many decades. Wide spread mail-in balloting on the other hand is an open invitation to fraudulent behavior. Democrats like to call their mail-in voting scheme as "absentee" because it has a pleasant ring to it.

Thank you for proving my point. You call Trump's claim an election lie because of lack of evidence that support it, but you apparently believe that five people (perhaps more) died because of the events of January 6th. Again, you people rely on empirical data when it fits your narrative.

But........you know.........seeing voter fraud in the 2020 has been shown to be infinitesimally small, what's the problem?

I think it is telling that a bunch of European countries that had universal mail-in balloting for many years have all (maybe except one???) stopped it because of the uncontrollable fraud or fraud potential. Recognizing that mail-in balloting is greatly more conducive to fraud and abuse is not rocket science, though many many deny it so.

How many people died because of the events of January 6th?

We're not talking about feelings. We're not talking about point of view. We're talking about facts. Facts. How many people factually died because of the events of January 6th?

Believing in mail-in ballot fraud without evidence it is occurring makes that belief, and those who foment it, enemies of democracy.
