What, exactly, is socialism? Again this discussion seems necessary.

I mentioned AAA on another thread but that was quite a while ago. It did work but was ruled unconstitutional. Then a new law came into effect in 1938 which, again, did work. Of course, had I been around I would have made some changes such as, first allow the excess commodities to grow, second, further government purchase of the excess (the states would be given first priority if they chose to buy them), free distribution to needy areas, or sales to foreign countries. The latter would help finance the farmers while re-paying the government for its investments. So, yes, there were a few faults with AAA. But there is no question that it did succeed in saving many farms.

 

Government is Socialism. The right wing has no arguments without appealing to emotion regarding Socialism.

 

Which is why socialism fails wherever it is practiced.

 

Socialism IS democracy. duh. It is the ULTIMATE democracy. But we have never seen it yet. We've seen strategies and efforts to GET TO socialism, but we've never seen a national economy in which workers own and run/direct the MoP.

 

We have a government controlled by workers right now.

 

I didn't mention "government".

 

If workers control the government, they control the means of production.

 

The proof of the failure of socialism in those programs is plain for even a complete imbecile to see. No socialist program in this country has ever worked. They all become insolvent despite the forced participation of the people. Government is corrupt by its nature and every enterprise it attempts fails as a result of that corruption.

How is forcing people to do what they do not wish to do democracy?

 

Of course. The state controls everything within its territory.

 

Workers don't control either or we wouldn't have declining unions, Citizens United, A.L.E.C., and most of Trump's deregulations.

 

You're not making sense. I hardly feel a need to debate the influence top corporations have on government.

 

Look at the numbers. Workers vastly outnumber their employers. The majority controls the government.

Since that's true, we have true democracy. Like in China? Russia? Nazi Germany? Cuba?

 

No, I don't think the US government is like any of those governments.

Do you classify state bureaucrats as workers or employers?

You would consider a school teacher to be an employer?

 

A school teacher is not a state bureaucrat.
