There is a large element of truth to that.

And it is one of the reasons many people see the Trump Presidency, and the way the Republicans have fawningly subordinated themselves to it, as real potential threats to democracy in America. The rise of Trump from 2015 to today has many eerie parallels to the rise of Hitler from 1930 to 1934, particularly in the way both man were able to sucessfully suborn the leaders of their respective nation's institutions and nodes of power.

In any case, I believe that the GOP will eventually pay a heavy price.

There is no second act to Trumpism. Trump is a one man band. He doesn't lead a movement, and there are no co stars or future Trumpists waiting in the wings. Trump does not have an electable successor.

By ceding leadership to Trump, the GOP puts itself in a position where it may well end up rudderless in four years.

Moreover two other factors weigh against a second act.

One is demographic. Trump's core appeal is to older lower middle class whites. Racial resentment is his core message. He beats that drum every chance he gets. Meanwhile, this demographic will be a minority at the end of a second Trump term (assuming that there is one). Trump's support is already a minority, and its core base is even smaller. Trump's election victory was not the product of a great tidal swing. Rather, it was the product of a statistical fluke the swung the electoral college. Trump has never won a majority of the vote in any contested election he ever ran it.

    The second is economic.

Trump is crowing about the performance of the economy, even though his policies have little to do with it. None the less he is getting credit.

Meanwhile storm clouds are gathering on the horizon.

Trump crows about the economy, but has stopped mentioning the stock market. It's not hard to see why.. The Dow Jones stopped rising in January and has been fluctuating up and down around a point a few percentage points below its peak.

Meanwhile, the signs of inflation are all around. From rising energy and commidities prices to projected deficicits.

Some of this is self inflicted. Trump's tax policies, which essentially discount the gains in the economy by transforming them into long term government debt, will drive up the cost of borrowing and crowd credit markets. The budget deficit is expected to double in Trump's first Fiscal Year and keep on rising from then on.

Additionally, Trump's trade war policies will very likely have a noticable impact on the price of many consumer goods, particularly in the light of teh most recent round in the Trump trade war against China.

When consumers walk into their favorite big box and find that flat screen this year costs 25% more than it did last, they may wonder whether that $100 one time bonus they got nine months earlier was worth it. Even more so if they are a farmer whose crop futures prices are now falling, even as their inventory is now growing in the fields.

While "500" people may be "running" the Democratic party, I strongly suspect that they will have a much easier time selecting a Presidential candidate in the post Trump era. After Trump, the GOP "clown car" will be back on track.

Everything in your post bespeaks extremism and denies reality, including what you have to say about liberals, which is just completely absurd.

    My post is factual.

    Many scholars agree ......

People who are in a perpetual state of victimhood .... aka liberals ..... cannot be happy.

    This is factual.

How can one be happy ... when they are in a constant state of belief that they have been wronged?

 Trump is a very bad man, bordering on evil. It insults true Christianity and insults Jesus to say he is anything other than a very, very bad man. Mark my words: history will remember him as a very, very bad man.

It's laughable. Every single post by a RW on this board is about what victims they are: victims of a liberal world. EVERYTHING in the world today makes them victims, according to the RW. I truly wish rightwingers knew how to be rational instead of whining, crying victims.

Not liking a abomination such as trump is not being a victim. The RW, in pretty much every post on this board, bellows about what victims they are of what they consider to be a liberal world. That's the reason they elected trump: to get back at the liberal world. Now we've got an atrocity for president, and yes, people are unhappy and distressed: the entire developed Western world is distressed about the situation of him being US president. The RW doesn't even understand the US is the leader of the free world, or was before he was elected. We no longer are. He's driving us down into the gutter. Done with you. Done. Bye.

This is nothing more than your intolerance toward those who hold different opinions from you talking.

The RW screams victimhood. They bemoan the horrible MSM on every other post. They complain the justice sector is against them. The bemoan the idea that most of the government is corrupt and against them. Mueller is corrupt and out to get their president. They complain about a fictitious "deep state" that is against them. They complain the "elitists" are exploiting them. They constantly whine that America's allies are ripping them off. They worry incessantly that the government is coming to take their guns away. They gripe that illegals are destroying their salaries and taking their jobs. They whine that anybody to the left of them are socialists or marxist and the beat goes on and on and on.

You're only upset because the right isn't licensed to use the tactics of the left.

Some of them are going to wake up on the day after the 2018 election, see the Dems didn't win enough Senate seats to remove Trump, and explode.

Trump's biggest "help" came from the DNC and MSM, who conspired to nominate the only person on the face of the earth that could not beat him.
