Look, 75% of Americans ( 59% of citizen republicans ) support this bill, but NOT ONE Republican in the senate voted for it? Not even Collins?

I think republicans should listen to this one minute clip of Rep. Tim Ryan ( D-OH) argue for the bill.

    I thought it was
But with all Democrat promises a tiny fraction of that goes to actual taxpayers and the lions share will as always go to pay off "God only knows"..

Pity is, we fans of history must pay for those on the left that historically continue to allow their lying politicians to get away with it..

    Good speech.

We note that the benefits of the Biden stimulus actually go to the little guys. For example, unemployment benefits, $1,400 checks, expanded child tax credits, support for small businesses, etc. In contrast, the Trump tax cut went almost exclusively to the big guys in the form of stock buybacks, inflating valuations.

Of course, now the GOP cries about inflation. Where were they when the tax cut on the credit card resulted in a burger at the restaurant going up from $9 to $12, or the car I bought new in 2017 went up from $23,000 to $27,000 under Trump? For what? For a measly $80 a month tax cut? No thank you.

Why can't we have a stand alone covid bill without all the pork projects like subways and terror funding in Pakistan?

I don't want to derail this thread, but I would also ask 'What's up with Republicans across the country pushing for new voting laws?' I understand people's concerns with mail in voting, but why would early voting periods be cut back? Why would polls close an hour earlier? Why would weekend voting be eliminated?

We all know why. But, they will claim it's to assure "election integrity".

Agreed. In Iowa, they showed no election fraud combined with the highest ever participation. Isn't that what we want as a country? EVERYONE voting? Yet they are employing new laws that will make voting more difficult.

Compromise has come to mean capitulation. The GOP will not work with the Democratic Party because they think President Biden will get the credit.

The GOP will do NOTHING that benefits the opposition party while they are out of power...

The Republican Party claims to be the party of the working class. It has become the party of the white working class. It remains the party for the upper class. Rich people have been prospering during this pandemic. The stock market has been making steady gains.

Incorrect. The Trump stimulus checks that he signed originated in the Dem controlled House.

What's up with repubs opposing the stimulus bill?

Repubs prefer measures that favor the rich.

All these D votes on the first two stimulus bills must be figments of my imagination, I guess.

Well that actually was a covid relief bill the current is Democrat pork-a-polooza bill only 25% of which at most went to actual covid relief, and no small pert of it went to tying the next congress' hands on spending priorities.

How much goes to people who suffered to include small business owners who were targeted for default by Blue States, and how much went to bail out Blue cities and states so they can pay public employee unions who will pay the Democratic Party. The real question is, "When will the Democratic Party be charged with money laundering and/or racketeering?"

The next target will be gig workers who also supplant Democrat campaign funders. People should go to jail ,,, to include people who vote for this corruption.

And what ideas to republicans have? All they say is no, and when they are in power, it's judges and tax cuts.

It's the no - idea party.

The last person I want advice from on what is a good idea, is from a Republican, who have NO ideas.

Yet, they worked together on the first stimulus package. Was that also a stupid idea?
