Taking a route that cuts off the other party and traveling at least 500 feet by foot from your vehicle is plenty of evidence.

We can speculate all day long. Why are you so intent on speculating against this innocent black kid?

Still more speculation. You don't know if T was innocent or not.

the laws says nothing about "minding your own business"

Find a law in FL that says you can't confront a suspicious looking person? If you can, that changes the case.

Your opinion that he shouldn't is fine... have that opinion all you want, and work to change the law to reflect that.... but as it stands in Feb 2012, Zimmerman did nothing that warranted an assault and battery on him

It's because they know that a vigilante type going after and confronting a guy is a recipe for an altercation and worse.

As it stands in Feb 2012, Martin did nothing warranted him being shot dead.

Because that's what Zimmerman stated. You have no reason to claim he is lying unless you have an agenda.

On top of that, his account is cooberated by a witness and the paramedics that treated his injuries.

How would you know? How do you know Zimmerman didn't begin the physical altercation.

No more so than this one: "as it stands in Feb 2012, Zimmerman did nothing that warranted an assault and battery on him"

You know that he was out at 7 pm. In Sanford the sun doesn't set until 7:30.

The kids robbing the area for electronics were arrested 2/6 according to reports.

Of course there is a reason for him lying. His freaking life is on the line. Jeez.

No witnesses testified about what caused the altercation.

If that were the case, why did witnesses say it was dark?

    Anyway, here is the statute:

776.041 Use of force by aggressor. —The justification described in the preceding sections of this chapter is not available to a person who:

    (1) Is attempting to commit, committing, or escaping after the commission of, a forcible felony; or

Evidence provided in the 911 call made by Zimmerman suggests that he may have been attempting to detain Martin until the police arrived. This would constitute a felony as Zimmerman had legal authority to do so.

    (2) Initially provokes the use of force against himself, unless:

The mere act of getting out of his vehicle and confronting Martin, who was minding his own business at the time, amounts to a provocation, at least to the degree that Martin himself may have felt threatened by Zimmerman's actions and acted in self-defense in his own right.

    (a) Such force is so great that the person reasonably believes that he or she is in imminent danger of death or great bodily harm and that he or she has exhausted every reasonable means to escape such danger other than the use of force which is likely to cause death or great bodily harm to the assailant; or

There is absolutely no evidence that Zimmerman, having initiated the confrontation, made any attempt whatsoever to escape from it whence it turned physical.

    (b) In good faith, the person withdraws from physical contact with the assailant and indicates clearly to the assailant that he or she desires to withdraw and terminate the use of force, but the assailant continues or resumes the use of force.

There is absolutely no evidence that Zimmerman, having initiated the confrontation, made any attempt to withdraw from physical contact with Martin at any time during the confrontation.

Grasping at more straws, are you?

You have no reason to say that Zimmerman is lying unless you have an agenda. Especially since other things back up his account and NOTHING contradicts it.

No there is firm evidence of that. It is not speculation at all.

You have no reason to say that Zimmerman is telling the truth unless you have an agenda. Especially since other things contradict his account.

To the contrary. There is no evidence that Martin was doing anything except walking home, and that but for Zimmerman's actions, he would have made it safely.

Who's to say that dad was even at a house in the neighborhood and that his lawyers, realizing there is a friend of dad's in the neigbhood, said, "it sounds better if you say you were at your friends house watching the game... that gives Trayvon a reason to be in the neighborhood vs wandering the streets....

Wouldn't that be an interesting development. It's also important in a thorough investigation to verify Trayvon's story by verifying where dad was

Surely a store in wlaking distance has video footage of Trayvon buying the candy, right? Verify the story.

See, this is what will end up coming out in court if Zimmerman's lawyer is worth his salt.

Have witnesses that say they saw Trayvon's dad at work that night, and not at his friends house where Trayvon was supposedly visiting dad....

Show the fact than NO convenience or grocery stores in walking distance has footage of Trayvon buy the candy for his brother (which only goes to show the story is made up, not that he stole it) Hell, even stealing the candy footage would at least verify he was actually in there. (not that shoplifting is a death sentence)

Of course, I know noone on the liberal side of this wants to explore ANY of those speculations (and I won't even call them wild because all of what I said is very plausible) because if Trayvon is shown to have NO reason to be in the neighborhood, or his dad wasn't at the friends house.... there is now doubt as to Trayvon's reasons for being there. And that Zimmerman may have been 100% right to be suspicious.

Police reports and 911 tapes. We been over it ad nasuem already in these threads.

Zimmerman call 9/11 from the club house. He was found standing over the dead body of Martin between the townhouses about 4-500 feet away. Zimmerman went after Martin.

Were Zimmerman to be tried for murder, the burden of proof would be on the prosecution.

So the question is, can it be proven that Zimmerman attacked Martin and was not acting in self defense? The answer appears to be no.
