Being a good Speaker requires several talents. Trump has none of most of the required talent.. Not only that, he would be a freshman, bottom of the heap, and he would have pretty much everybody above him in the pecking order. In addition, there is a lot of stuff a freshman has to learn, and do, and Trump is allergic to work. A politician with a good staff doesn't have to read a lot, but to be a good politician (a skill the Speaker needs to master) is to be able to absorb and place in context a lot of information. Trump can't do that. Lastly, his mind is simple. He would see this as a demotion, not an opportunity. He doesn't want to be a politician. That was clear to me in 2016, he wants to be dictator.
*Not a requirement, that the House Speaker be a member of the House of Reps, which is why Gaetz (and others) have spoken about the possibility.
You plainly have no basis, nor is it a possibility for ANYONE to have a genuinely solid footing, for their statement about something that is absolutely possible, yet will "never," happen. There would have been far more of a basis, for example, to have said, "No black man will ever play in the white baseball league;" or, "man will never walk on the moon," than to assert that you have any way to know what the majority of Repubs who voted to kick Liz Cheney out of leadership, just for speaking ill of the Trump, would be willing to do for him. Can you name for me any major (or even minor) thing that Trump had asked for, on which House Republicans have rebuffed him? Hell, if Trump returned to Washington, to be Speaker, Kevin McCarthy would be fetching Trump's dry cleaning, if Donny asked. The real question becomes, does Trump really want this?
Which is hiliarious. "Moral majority" that worships a guy that married three hookers and is a serial cheater and accused rapist. Anti-vax guy that wants to be called the "Father of the COVID vaccine and have it named Trumpcine". Atheist that had a crowd gassed and held up an empty book (a real bible would have scorched his little fingers) and mocks them to his staff. Personally, I'd be ashamed that I admired someone so vile who has made it clear he doesn't give a damn about me (except for my purse strings and ability to beat up Capitol police officers). <smdh>
Seeing that he is the antithesis of everything someone following the works of Jesus Christ would worship that gives you and yours some moral integrity. But for many many evangelicals this isn’t true. He has an unusually high favorability in this group — golden statue and all.
After his bankruptcy and criminal charges we will hear no more from T****. He'll be living on his rented yacht, staffed by (near) naked girls and laughing at all the fools who put money into his tax free, bankruptcy proof, PAC fund.
I'm afraid too many evangelicals have abandoned Christianity in favor of the theater of the main leaders.
It’s not a question of like or dislike. As a voter you will get faced with two viable choices: Trump or Harris. Who are you likely to vote for, and who do you think will win?
I know no Christian who thinks Trump is God's anointed. I know of many who think he's better than Clinton in 2016 and Biden in 2020.
I voted John B Anderson for 32 years. We really need instant runoff tickets, vote for who you really want to win and who you'd accept second.
~ Trump-O does indeed like to speak , but it is unlikely that he would actually want the position of Speaker Of The House. He certainly could be the ' Specialty ' of the House ... Are you speaking to me.. ?
I agree, no actual Christian would consider him to be God's anointed. However there are many, many christians who do despite his tight association with Satan his entire life.
Palin would probably be a better fit for Speaker next year. Amazing after only 14 months in office, Biden has singlehandedly destroyed the Democratic Party.
I think it is highly implied and the same on the Senate that they be an elected member of the body and therefore has the authority to speak for those bodies and as far as SOH third in line in succession.
If, by "woke up," you mean, " had Trump come along, afterward, and torpedo the idea," then yes, that happened (as I loudly announced, in the the thread, at that time).
On what basis, do you think that, "it is highly implied?" When it comes to governmental practice & procedures, written-- in the Constitution, or in some statute of law, or even in the House or Senate rules (though, of course, these are the easiest, among the examples, to change)-- beats out implied, every time. And I don't know, as indicated by my asking you about it, that this really is implied. I have a feeling that, "assumed, without any basis in actual Constitutional language," is probably a more accurate description. But, as I just mentioned in my prior response, to one of your posts-- Trump has already come along & said that this idea of Gaetz's, does not interest him.
I gave them to you the Speaker and President pro tem and officiers, I think it understood those are elected/chosen members of the bodies.
While I still think your ideas, on numerous topics, are VERY misguided, those are easily displaced by this statement's indication of your total cluelessness, regarding the subject matter of my dreams. In truth, I started this thread, not because it was a prospect, about which, I was at all hopeful, but conversely, due to its worrying potentials.
