Grand jury indicts Donald Trump for alleged 2020 election conspiracies

A grand jury has indicted former president Donald Trump for a raft of alleged crimes stemming form his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

Trump’s legal team was notified Tuesday that the former president had been indicted, according to a person familiar with the matter, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the indictment had not yet been made public.

I'm relieved. This is the most important case IMO. The one that stands as vital in protecting the country against future plots to steal a presidential election.

So, what crime did he commit, exactly?

Are you referring to Trump's failed coup attempt?

A key area of interest for Smith has been the conduct of a handful of lawyers who sought to turn Trump’s defeat into victory by trying to convince state, local, federal and judicial authorities that Biden’s 2020 election win was illegitimate or tainted by fraud.

Investigators have sought to determine to what degree these lawyers — particularly Rudy Giuliani, Jenna Ellis, John Eastman, Kurt Olsen and Kenneth Chesebro, as well as then-Justice Department lawyer Jeffrey Clark — were following specific instructions from Trump or others, and what those instructions were, according to the people familiar with the matter, who like others interviewed spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe an ongoing investigation.

There were noted, in the indictment, 6 co-conspirators. Not that those 6 are also being indicted, right now, but that seems a likely eventuality-- just not as part of the same case, as Trump. Though the 6 were not specifically named, they were described, by their roles, and I think Eastman and Giuliani are definitely two of them.

And Jeff Clark I believe. I predicted Eastman would be named as a co-conspirator.

A conspiracy to defraud the United States by using dishonesty , fraud, and deceit to impair, obstruct , and defeat the lawful federal government function by which the results of the presidential election are collected, counted, and certified by the federal government , in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 371; a . b .

A conspiracy to corruptly obstruct and impede the January 6 congressional proceeding at which the collected results of the presidential election are counted and certified ( the certification proceeding ), in violation of 18 U.S.C. 1512(k ); and C.

A conspiracy against the right to vote and to have one's vote counted, in violation of 18 U.S.C. 241

Each of these conspiracies which built on the widespread mistrust the Defendant was creating through pervasive and destabilizing lies about election fraud targeted a bedrock function of the United States federal government: the nation's process of collecting, counting , and certifying the results of the presidential election ( the federal government function ).

He is NOT FIT to run for office from every aspect: legal, competency, mental unhealth ( delusional = if he actually believes what he claims verifies that he is out of touch with reality. Otherwise he is a pathological liar and malignant narcist . Projecting his own nuttiness on Smith is just projection to a petrological degree. J. Smith is proving himself to be a c consumate professional with ethics . To smear him is just as patthetic as Trump. Because Trump has no ability to see what he has done as being wrong verifies the pathos of his mental state. His cult are his enablers
This is really sad on so many levels..

The timing of all these indictments always seems to come after bad news for Biden. People on this board have told me there's no such thing as a coincidence, do you guys still believe that?

He is way ahead in the polls to be the 2024 POT nominee. It's more than sad, it is an abomination.

I ask because your source is behind a paywall.

Since the indictment was leaked, that's a tell tale sign that there's something seriously flawed with the case.

Shortly after an indictment against Donald Trump was unsealed, special counsel Jack Smith described the insurrection on January 6, 2021, as an “unprecedented assault” that was “fueled by lies” told by the former president.

He encouraged Americans to read the entire document.

Trump was indicted on four counts in Smith’s investigation into the aftermath of the 2020 election. The indictment also includes mention of six unnamed and unindicted co-conspirators.

Smith also indicted the former president at the beginning of June in a separate special counsel investigation regarding classified documents to which Trump pleaded not guilty.

    Another beautiful day.

But it will be a fantastic opportunity for Trump to demonstrate to the world, in a court of justice, that he won in 2020 and is the legitimate President of this country.

At the same time, his lawyers will prove that the 60 judges who dismissed all his election fraud cases are part of a historic - and worldwide - conspiracy to prevent his re-election.

Are you ready for the proofs?
