Why should there be a deadline for signing up/buying health care insurance through the exchange? Individuals lose their current coverage due to age, losing job, new job waiting periods; every day. So why shouldn't they be able to purchase a policy through the exchange 365 days a year? It isn't medicare. And there is no administrative reason why they shouldn't be able to purchase insurance when they need to.

Right? ACA and Democrats provide no explanation for instituting a deadline on purchase of insurance they Mandate and many pay the total premium for.

...they can. A change in life circumstances like losing a job or losing other coverage triggers a special enrollment period, just as has been the case under HIPAA for individuals in group insurance for two decades.

The open enrollment period (again, just like the annual open enrollment period in employer-based group plans) is when most people buy/change plans. It doesn't mean that people who experience qualifying events outside of the annual open enrollment can't buy insurance.

Maybe learn about how it works before railing against it.

You may thank your fellow Republican obstructionists for that.

now subtract the thirty million who still don't have insurance, subtract another 3 million who are about to lose their insurance due to being laid off (employer mandates), and subtract another 4 million that will lose their insurance when the GOP and SCOTUS agree, and we'll be in worse shape than before the Great Theft

Agree, it is "mr truth" who stretches the truth. While there may be thousands that now have insurance subsidized by us taxpayers and thousands who now are on "Medicaid". There are more that have seen their premiums skyrocket, and those that don't qualify for a subsidy and can't afford the higher premiums(forced to pay the penalty or "charge or borrow" to pay the higher premiums and still thousands of uninsureds (including illegals) seeking emergency room care and unable to pay for that care. And, those that were able to get no-cost or low cost insurance on the exchanges are going to find out that their current doctors and hospitals may not be covered by their plan. And, may find that their insurance won't "kick in" until they meet their high deductible and out of pocket. Meeting those requires thousands and thousands of dollars of medical expenses. And the worse is yet to come as not regulations have taken effect yet.

Healthcare.gov Facebook page is down. Pretty lousy program when they cant even keep their FB page up.

Oops, it's back up... just in time for this comment:

    *****

This reminds me of the Greek god Apollo. Apollo was in love with this beautiful nymph. Problem was, this nymph was in love with a farmer, whom was also in love with her. Out of jealousy and rage, Apollo turns the farmer into a feeder fish-- a fish that is wholly dependent on its survival on cleaning bits of food and gunk out of the the teeth and gills of a great white shark. This is what obamacare and over government regulation seeks to do, turn citizens into feeder fish.

Just remember - if it looks too good to be true, it usually is and Obamacare is one of those things. Millions shunted to Medicaid who quickly found out no one will accept them as patients. Insurance policy that no one accepts is no different than no insurance.

Read more comments from REAL Americans and a few from gov't trolls, paid to make it sound like it's working.

    Whatta scam.

we are being forced to pay, once again, for something we can't utilize. The purchasers cannot use it, those who cannot are forced into real cheap medicare, and then we have the ones calling it a Millennial Miracle. Of course, they are not trying to actually "buy" insurance, they expect to be treated for no out of pocket expenses, just demanding that someone else pay for their "bad back" and pain pills............lots o' pain pills

There are thousands of comments on healthcare.gov's facebook page just like the two I posted... one can spend hours reading the words of REAL AMERICANS. It's an eye-opener. I can nearly understand liberals being naïve enough to believe our govt can effectively run anything, but I'll never understand why they side with slimy politicians over their fellow countrymen who dare speak out against Obamacare. It's eerie, isn't it? Like they're all hypnotized.

    Or stupid.

Can you actually document the skyrocketing premium statement or are you going to continue to just use individual examples which may or may not be representative of actual experience.

Premiums do not have to skyrocket in costs when all they have to do is raise deductibles on everyone. High deductibles gets them out of paying 80% of the premiums paid to them. People are paying for their healthcare but at a reduced rate, gee thanks.

45,000 dead every year due to lack of health care thanks to the Republican created holocaust that you right wingers reveled in for so long is FAR more expensive to our society.

We've been waiting a LONG time for right wingers to present evidence of their claims but they have yet to produce an iota of evidence.

Further, we're still waiting for "proof" of the claim that I accused right wingers of 'racism' for not supporting ACA. It's a good bet we'll wait until the end of eternity for that gem of a lie.

Still don't know the difference between health care and health insurance eh? Not surprised, it would explain your fantasies.

Not necessarily. But individual experiences represent individual situations not the impact on society as a whole. If you are looking for a medical solution that doesn't make anyone unhappy you will probably only find it in the afterlife.
