Do you know how much she stands to make either way? I tried searching google but couldn't find any data.
Prowrestling documentaries have all made one realization... when you have midgets wrestle, or women, the first time, it sells a place out. If you continue to have women or midgets wrestle, it starts fading in popularity quickly until you can't really use them for a while. You over saturate the product. then, later, you can do it again for a while. Women's MMA headlining ppv's is a pendelum swing. RR was VERY instrumental in that success. She had the look, the skillset, the marketability and a promoter that knew how to push it to the max. However, the market is over-saturated with it now. other than the rematch between HH and RR, PPV's won't main event them anymore. If they do, they simply won't sell like they did over the last 2 years. UFC made their money... RR became a rich woman because of it.... but it will be back to undercard matches very soon.
Hollywood paydays are very different and she's not going to command a Jennifer Lawrence salary. Upfront dollars for very big name actress would probably not be higher than 10 million and she's not going to get that. Fight guarantee for a rematch would be much bigger.
What? You're surprised? She went up against a life-time boxer. Rhonda has ONE move and that's it. Toe to toe against a life-time boxer? Yea right. Easiest 100 bucks I've made off my coworker.
I called it prior and got attacked on the biggest MMA Forum (Sherdog). I called exactly how it would happen. Then, it happened and suddenly I had dozens of posters calling me a prophet and they stickied my prediction for a day. I was counting on Greg Jackson (Holly's Strategist / Coach) completely schooling Edmond (Ronda's Strategist / Coach). The idiot even told her between rounds striking advice instead of saying take it to the ground! Keep it there. It was a horrible game plan. However, I would expect the rematch do be the same as Holly has trained Take Down defense and to get back up hard. She's too much for Ronda and it's a rap for Ronda. The sad question is, will Ronda lose all her movie deals? This could get bad fast for her. I hope she has invested well. It was over once she endorsed Bernie Sanders. That's a loser move. - - - Updated - - - The UFC is very secretive on pay, because they pay the non Champions / Big Names absolute peanuts.
Her loss is very simple. She's a ground grappler going up against a world class boxer. Rhonda has one successful move. A boxer can nail you to the wall with thousands of combinations. Made some easy money with my coworker who assured me Rhonda would win. Lol
More than just that. She was unable to take Holly down effectively which mattered as well. Holly has trained under Jackson on her Take Down Defense and how to check Ronda's hips. If you watch Holly's arm, she always placed it on Ronda's hips when they initially clinched.
Her problem is she has to be in clinch for takedowns , because she's a judo fighter not a wrestler. Holly didn't let her clinch besides once or twice , and when she did let the clinch happen she looked stronger. Holly's striking is lightyears beyond ronda, ronda would never catch up.
IDK... she has a look, and is recognizable. I mean, Randy couture has lost numerous times, can still be sold as a very dangerous peson in movies like the Expendables.... RR would make a great Wonder Woman.... still. I'm no longer a fan of hers, not because she lost a fight, but because they over-saturated the media with her, and the fact she's a lefty-loony.... and a hypocrit when it comes to domestic abuse.
Dunno what a person's politics has to do with their success in the cage. In the Twin Cities Brock Lesnar is well known for his right wing politics and his defense of Bush's wars even though he refused to enlist. The fact that he lost in UFC was never used by anyone to laugh at his failings. But mebbe people should do so.
Ego was her downfall for sure....and bad coaching=) Can't understand why they let her do what she did. Oh well. Bigger paycheck for the rematch=)
Yes I was surprised but not shocked. Normally it only takes a good wrestler to beat a boxer. If the boxer doesnt knock the wrestler out with the 1st punch and the wrestler gets him down its all over never mind an MMA submission artist. Rhonda had no business trying to strike with Holms. She was a victim of her own hype. - - - Updated - - - So did Rasahd Evans. You dont get a record like Holms unless your a world class athlete plus being the best woman striker in the world. - - - Updated - - - Nobody? I sure do
He is also an actor, and a commentator, and a martial artist with a hell of a lot more knowledge of the sport than anybody on this board.
Typically it is misogynist losers who couldn't get laid in a wh0rehouse with a pocket full of fifties who feel the need to mewl about imaginary stances by those damned feminists.
Wouldn't count on that, considering that the highest paid MMA fighter in the business made just over $1MM in 2014. The most I see a fighter getting for one fight was $600,000. Don't have to be an established Hollywood star to make $600,001 for a film, especially if you are one of the reasons dipsh/ts will be seeing the movie.
That's what I was thinking but don't have any proof. Seems like Hollywood pays FAR more than mma. I see no evidence anywhere which shows that mma pays more.
Wait wtf???? What difference does it make who the champ is? They both were fighting the way they thought gave the best chance to win. And let's not forget RR did get to the mat in the first round and Holm escaped. Not sure Rousey can ever beat Holm unless she gets much stronger. I fully expect another beat down in the rematch. - - - Updated - - - This is true without a doubt. If RR can get movie money she would be a fool to get back in the cage.
