The question and scale are flawed. You are trying to cram two completely different concepts into one scale.

One the one hand, there is the question of whether one considers it possible to actually know whether or not a god exists. That's where pretty much everyone lands on being agnostic; most people realize that knowing for sure is not possible.

However, you are mixing that up with the other question; whether one believes that a god exists or not. They are not degrees of each other. Agnosticism is not an alternative to atheism, they are answering two entirely different questions.

So, what do I believe? I believe that it is not possible to know for certain whether or not a god exists. That makes me an agnostic.

I also don't believe in the existence of any god. That makes me an atheist.

For that matter, if we want to add a Z-axis to this graph, I believe that religion in general is a bad idea. That makes me an antitheist.

If you are not satisfied with my answer, and wish to push on with your idea of simplifying complex issues to the point of being plain wrong, that only condemns you.

You cannot logically argue that knowing for sure is not possible.

The stories of Moses and St. Paul are completely feasible. Ergo Moses and Paul would have known for sure. It's just that nobody else can know about Moses and Paul.

But anybody else can have the same experience as Moses or Paul.

Nobody has claimed to in a long, long time. But you cannot judge them. You can only judge for yourself, based on your own position of ignorance.

Not curious at all. What happens when we die is out of our control so why worry about the much debated whims of some egocentric god deciding something about a life that we cannot change?

As I said, it doesn't concern me.

No disrespect to Buddha, but he's a dead body. but Jesus is not, spot the difference?
And remember, although Buddha was a great thinker, he was just a human giving us his own guesses and hunches, but Jesus was the Son of God, giving us the words of God himself..:)
Jesus said - "For I have not spoken on my own authority; but the Father who sent me gave me a command, what I should say and what I should speak" (John 12:49)

1- Wow, you say you're an agnostic, an atheist and an antitheist, that's quite a tangled furball you've got there..;)
2- You say religion is a bad idea. Which religion? Surely you can't mean this one?-
"Love one another, feed the hungry, house the homeless, clothe the destitute, tend the sick, visit the prisoners, look after the poor"-Jesus of Nazareth (Mark 12:30, John 13:34, Matt 25:37-40)
3- No offence mate but are you a closet Jehovah's Witness or other cultist? They too claim the Bible is too complex and can't be simplified, and they have a field day producing cockamamie theological furballs to puke at us..:)

As I said; if you want to simplify things to the degree that they are inaccurate, you only condemn yourself.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe, just maybe, one's entire view on concepts of divinity, higher powers, and religion in general could be rather difficult to squeeze into one single scale of 1-10?

Why, would you do none of those things if you didn't believe in god?

Why is it that anytime someone says "No offense" they are always about to insult you?

Nobody ever uses that term when they genuinely mean no offense, it's exclusively used as an excuse when one wants to act like a prick.

    • Other than one heck of a PR campaign what proof do you have on the Jesus? Or even of this Jesus?

    • Any physical relics or first person written evidence? Any surviving relatives?

    • I didn't think so.

Any of Jesus' family members -- brothers and sisters -- and their kids have long since disappeared into antiquity.

The Jews had a lot to do with this because they hunted Christians down for several hundred years until Constantine came along and decreed tolerance.

Ergo it would be the fallacy of affirmation of the consequent to try and assert "no surviving members".

Paybacks for the Jews came with the Spanish inquisition and later Adolf.

Even today the Jews have a lot of other enemies in the Middle East -- Arabs, Palestinians, and Persians.

So as Buddhism would say -- what goes around comes around.

Yes, that's the christian point of view but for a buddhist Buddha didn't gave his own guesses and hunches and he is not just a human, he is a man who became a buddha. He didn't gave his own guesses and hunches, he revealed the buddhic law who existed before buddha and will never stop to exist. The existence of the buddhic law is indenpendant of the existence of a buddha. A buddha don't invent anything new, he awake himself to the reality and teacb to human how to escape pain through the path of the buddhas.

Did you know that "Jesus" didn't exist until around the year 1630 when a Dutch con man gave the central character in the New Testament that name? He got sued for printing BS but the name stuck.

The primary problem is we don't have access to the earliest Bible, which is the source material for all of the other versions. Therefore we have to use common sense and do etymology research on each word to see when it was first used. It's like looking at something written in Greek and thinking that it's from the First Century. The reality is that such Greek writing is written in the Modern Greek alphabet, which means that the document is just several hundred years old at most. And the words "Greek" and "Greece" are fairly modern words. http://etymonline.com/index.php?allowed_in_frame=0&search=greek

"If the letter J wasn't invented until 1600, how did Jesus get his name 2013 years ago?"

The quick answer is the Name: "Jesus," was not given or received over 2000 years ago. The first time the name was spelled (as far as my research indicates) precisely this way was in the phrase: "JESUS’ psalter.”
Which was noted in June of 1632 within a legal brief prepared from the Court of the High Commission in London England.

Ironically, the name was spelled this way in an official lawsuit filed against a pair of owners of an Amsterdam print shop who were printing Bibles for gain (profit) - their edition bears the date 1631 - 1632. The pair willfully engaged in dishonorable publishing and “made grievous errors.” The evidence was their production of a Bible without quality, a printing disgrace known commonly as ‘the wicked Bible.’ The pair were sued for printing subpar quality and lost - having to pay a large fine. But the spelling JESUS which was only written within the court’s document, and which occurred just once, remained to become the Western Brand Name for a very famous Jew."
    ...
"In fact, in my research, I can find NO published name spelled precisely as: "Jesus" prior to June of 1632."

Makes sense. The entire bible is subject to the same treatment, in my opinion.

As a Deist I believe in God but my belief in God is the hypothesis that relies upon the fewest assumption ergo I never argue God as a fact due to insufficient evidence to support such a claim.

    I rate my belief as a 5.

The mod's here are very sensitive about replying to a reply like yours.

    Probably overly sensitive.

    Which makes it a dilemma.

English alone was not invented until about 1066 AD.

So there was no "JESUS" until 1066 AD at the earliest.

In Greek -- the original language of the New Testament -- it is spelled IESOUS.

    And Christ is XRISTOS.

Seems like Jesus knew some Greek because he used Greek expressions like "alpha ve omegra".

But he probably went by his Aramaic name JSHOOA -- not a J but a JOD in Hebrew/Aramaic.
