You are wrong. Ellis Island did not come into being until 1892; before that there was no control over who came into the country.

I do read what I write. Did you? I oppose the wall because it’s a waste of time and money that won’t solve the problem. I would support any workable solution since I agree something should be done about the immigration issue.

Your video is a showcase on how not to scale a border wall. Not one of them thought to bring a ****ing rope? Really?

    Unbelievable.

Tell us about all the social welfare programs immigrants took advantage of in the 1800's. Were they stealing citizens identities too?

That aint the boarder wall we're going to build.

Clearly that video shows a need for a bigger wall

I believe immigration laws and regulations changed because there needed to be a limit to the number of people allowed into the country.

For example, a brief review of living conditions among immigrants in New York City in the 1800's shows that a more controlled approach was needed.

In the end, illegal aliens knew exactly what they were getting in to. They knew the day could come when they were caught, and were deported. It's beyond me to understand why they would put their family in jeopardy that way. For many, their complaints fall on deaf ears.

Sadly, the limbo is caused by the political maneuvering that is tied to them. If anyone wants to know the true nature of the people pushing for special consideration for them, as a negotiating point, mention permanent non-voting status if granted amnesty. Heads explode, and the real reason behind the push is revealed.

You're wrong in your "I propose, you accept" assumption. On the campaign trail, candidate Trump would never condemn those illegals who came here as children - he recognized that they were assimilated and were Americans in all but name. Now that he is President Trump, he is attempting to do something for those people who are true dreamers while the congress hems and haws and the Dems use it for nothing but political points and the fake news plays the Democrats game rather than acting as the routh estate and aritrate a just outcome.

What path to citizenship is there for these people who came here as young children.
Why should they suffer for liberal policies that are in place more for the political impact than to help anyone.
It would be immoral to deport them if they came here as children and have assimilated and are true Americans in all but birth.

IMO, for President Trump this is about doing what is just and right and Christian while it is nothing but a political football for the Democrats and the sycophant fake news.

I agree in this - DACA is for only for Dreamers - there can be no chain immigration.

Trump was presented with a bill proposal by a bipartisan committee that dealt with a DACA problem, he was the one who wanted to tie it to the wall rather than just a clean bill. There are several “clean” bills sitting in Committee in both the House and Senate that Republican leaders won’t allow to come to the floor for a vote. Your suggestion that it’s purely a Democratic failure is BS.

What are you talking about? Trump isn't interested in doing anything for dreamers. He flip flops more than a fish on the shore and accepts whatever the last person he spoke to. Why is "Mexico will pay for the wall" and then "give me the wall and I'll give you DACA" and less offensive than "If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor" (which, by the way, I have no personal knowledge of anyone that lost their doctor).

    Why would it be immoral?

Do you consider the nations south of our border that bad?

You act as if we are sending them to hell or somewhere.

I think the question here is why you would allow 100 million people to endure that daily suffering and not do anything to fix it if its that bad down there.

Mexico must be like Rwanda x100 huh?

    And you're ok with that?

A giant wall tells the illegals they are not wanted - the flood would turn into a trickle and then into a few drops.

Your opinion that a wall isn't the answer is incorrect since all of the walls presently in Europe and Israel are working:
    1. Bulgaria built a wall along the Turkish border, which was completed in August 2015.
    2. Hungary completed its wall along the Serbian border on 14 September 2015, and the wall along the Croatian border a month later.
    3. Slovenia built a razor sharp fence, cutting across the Croatian border in November last year.
    4. Macedonia completed a wall along the Greek border topped with barb wire.
    5. Austria - In April of this year, Austria began construction of a ‘fence’ along the Italian border.
    6. Israel built a wall years ago that has worked well for Israeli security

Your statement is incorrect. America had an open invite for all Europeans - especially protestants - to come to America. Then, although we continued to fiocus on European immigrants, we opened the gates to Catholics. Please note that Ellis Island and other such places were there for a reason. And then there is the famous acronym WOP meaning WithOut Papers.

White Protestants were allowed in - unless they were slaves or chattel such as indentured servants, no one else. There can be no flood of immigrants when the only entrance is through Eastern ports.

Your Wall Street/donor/"job creator" class lobbied long, hard, and often to have a labor force here they could more readily abuse and avoid hiring the likes of you for.

Wow - what movie did you get that from - because it's all fiction.

Try reading a history book for the facts - it might help.

The american aristocracy has always relied upon the abject ignorance of the masses and the ability to point them at one another in fictitious illusions.

You are correct. President Trump tied a path to citizenship to wall funding.

Here's the issue - the wall will be built one way or another and DACA will go to the dust bin - and it will be the Democrats fault.
Consider the 60% steel and aluminum tariff against the chinese that President Trump is presently instituting; where will that money go? What if he institutes other tariffs against Mexico so that they can help pay for that wall. There are multiple ways President Trump can fund the wall - all much harder than a simple funding bill - but you can believe the wall will be built.

Meanwhile, to my knowledge, all of the bills being held in either chamber do not contain wall funding and won't be allowed to the floor to be used strictly as political fodder by the Dems and fake news.

The wall, that's mild enforcement, there are far greater means to police illegal immigration and their removal ;)

Candidate Trump stayed away from condemning "dreamers" while he did comdemn illegals while touting the need for a wall.

The Democrats are the party that has cried foul concerning dreamers and won't even try to compromise with President Trump - the Democrats don't care at all for the dreamers - it's all a political ploy for them

The dreamers were brought to the US as chidren - they didn't decide to break the law and come here illegally - their parents did. Culturally the dreamers are Americans - they have nothing at all in common with whatever country their parents cam from and it would therefore be beyond cruel to deport them.

Yes, President Trump has tied a path to citizenship for dreamers to a wall - that's politics - but he he has not abandoned them as the Democrat Party has so cruelly done. Please note that it is President Trump who keeps bringing up the subject of dreamers - a subject the Democrats refuse to address.

What makes you think Spain and the "Spaniards" were entitled to Mexico and North America? They conquered Mexico and we conquered them all's fair :) You will be hard pressed to find many Aztec left in Mexico!
