I guess I ll break in here. All your talk about being fit got me thinking so I finally told my doctor about my health problems. I remember how being healthy feels and I wasn't even close. Anyway...I just k ew my lungs were gone and my heart was failing. I went to the office and they x rayed my lungs. Then they hooked me up to the ekg. It showed problems so...off to the ER. They hooked me up and took blood. My blood sugar was 400. The ER doctor told me it probably wasnt my heart. I have a full set of tests coming up because of Medicare. I just want to say thanks and I am going to see how healthy i can get. Now that I know my lungs are good I am going to do a little more each day...not much...just a little. I feel better already.

For what it is worth I'll never forget what by Sophomore
Biology teacher told class. That would be Brother Adrian { Holy Cross
Brother } who was a small man.The meanest and most serious teacher I
ever had.He tolerated absolutely no monkeyshines in his class.
Used to stand outside the door of his classrooim where the school
bell was just yards away.As soon as that school bell finished ringing
he shut the door.Meaning any student was technically Late to class.
A student once asked about smoking and if they stop could
it help them.Brother Adrian explained almost in detail that the human
lungs are pretty durable and capable of recovery. That indeed they
can overcome abuse from smoking and repair themselves.Like a Liver.
But there is a law of diminishing return where at some point repair is
    not recoverable.

I think that explains the low sodium thing...AND being a diabetic may not be the greatest thing...but after smoking almost 50 years and working as a sandblaster...in a foundry 18 years...and being a painter with powder paints...my lungs are okay.

400 is very high. The bad thing about high blood sugar is that you may feel fine until it kills you. My neighbor had very high blood sugar and didn't know it until he temporarily lost his vision while driving to work. Suddenly the lights went out! Scary stuff!!!

What I have [severe metabolic syndrome, which is related to diabetes but not the same animal] is a mixed bag. I used to feel horrible all the time after I ate, including passing out cold. But at least I knew something was wrong.

On that note, I've been working out every day, with HIIT one day, and endurance swimming the next. But I need a break. Today I couldn't finish on the elliptical. I only lasted 20 minutes. But it wasn't just exertion. I could tell that my muscles need a break. I went ahead and finished my weight lifting routine okay but was pooping out a little early.

One of the changes in training since I was young is to listen to your body. If you are overdoing it, your body will tell you. Today I could tell this wasn't the normal sense of not wanting to push. My body was objecting. I need a rest day.

When I played football, we had to run in full gear, in the heat of summer, until we puked. Pushing that hard is detrimental and counterproductive. Some of the P90X guys are so into puking that they are told to keep a trashcan handy when working out. They expect you to puke. STUPID!!! Yes, you may get great results in muscle mass but there is a real price for that as well. In fact the constant exposure to acid from excessive puking has been linked to throat and esophageal cancer...or at least it is a reasonable expectation based on what we know about cancer. I don't remember the exact language but puking is much worse than smoking. :D

You start getting addicted to working out. It is a little depressing to know I won't work out tomorrow. Funny, two months ago I was dragging myself down there, and barely so. Yesterday I worked out twice! LOL!

Until I started again 6.5 years ago [about age 50]... I think it was... I'm losing track... the only dumbbells I'd picked up since I was in my twenties were my cats. :) When I first started, I worked out for about 15 or 20 minutes with two 20 lb dumbbells, and doing high knee lifts while standing in place, and then had to take a nap. :D

You know, there is one thing about this that has always bothered me. I remember seeing it coming towards us. And I remember it moving away from us. I remember it like it was yesterday. But for the life of me I never could remember what it looked like when it was directly over us. Were I a true UFO nut I might think I was abducted and experienced missing time. But I'm not about to go there. :D My ex wife even wanted me to get hypnotized to see if it could jog any memories. But that is a can of worms. They might inadvertently plant ideas in my head that then become real as if a memory.

But in all honesty, that I can't remember what it looked like when it was right over our heads has always been a little strange. I keep thinking that we still couldn't make out a shape so there is nothing clear to remember. But I've always thought that I should remember something. As I said, the rest of it I can remember very clearly, even now.

I remember the Project Bluebook days and lived in Indianapolis when they posted a picture of a ufo on the front page of the newspaper. They had all kinds of pics back then. They also had a few ufo experts too. The one I liked best...even pics of aliens looking out of flying saucer portholes. He got caught taking a picture of a chicken feeder. He also had some good hubcap picks. I was just a kid then. I dont think we have had any visitors from space....and when you consider the odds it does seem improbable. At least from my pov.

In fact, Bluebook concluded that about 10% of the credible sightings could not be explained - or to be more accurate, they were not explained. The head of Bluebook, Ruppelt, and the Chief Scientist, Hynek, became total converts and big believers. Hynek's job was to debunk UFO reports, which he did at first. In fact he invented the famous swamp gas explanation. But he ended up becoming the first highly respected scientist to become an advocate for the serious study of UFOs; which he did the rest of his life.

It is easy to point to the bad cases, which is what typical skeptics do while avoiding the cases that are compelling. As Stan Friedman says, the question is not whether UFOs are alien spacecrafts. The question is, are any?

Spielberg hired Hynek as a consultant for Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Hynek was certainly the foremost expert and he invented the scale, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th kinds of encounters. He also made a cameo appearance in the movie, which was loosely based on actual reports. For example, the police chase scene was inspired by a real police chase of a UFO. It covered two States.

A bunch of cops saw and chased a UFO in Illinois some years ago. One even got a few photos. I have cousins back there and was giving them a bad time about it. So what in the hell is going on around here? I hear your cops are spending their time chasing UFOs!

They didn't know that I have a serious interest in the subject. Boy did they get defensive!!! My one cousin knows one of the cops involved and quickly went to his defense. BY GOD I'VE KNOWN so and so and his family FOR 40 YEARS!!! IF he said he saw it, THEN BY GOD HE SAW IT!!!

He got pissed. LOL!!!! It was especially funny because before that, if I had told them about my own interest, they would have scoffed and thought it stupid.

Funny, I haven't thought much about this stuff for a long time. On the wild side, if you interrogate physicists privately, some will say that time travelers are more likely than ET. Faster-than-light [FTL] travel, which would presumably be needed by space faring ETs, involves concepts in time travel necessarily, based on the physics we know. Scientist play with closed time-like curves all the time, which is the physics of time travel. In fact time travel alone would seem to be simpler than FTL travel. There are also practical matters such as, how did they find us, and why would they spend the energy to get here? Of course many argue that they have been around for at least thousands of years, as is suggested by the fact that almost every primitive culture had stories, what they often call history, about gods and visitors that came down from the sky on ships or otherwise - such as chariots of fire.

Near the end of his life, Hynek strongly suspected that we aren't talking about crafts that travel through space in the normal sense. Many highly compelling events suggest something more akin to trans dimensional travel. They seem to blink or fade in and out of existence. There are even a few old films where an alleged UFO can be seen skipping through the sky - not moving from point A to point B by moving through all points between them. Rather it jumps from one point to the next, seemingly instantaneously. In one set of frames it is in position A, and in the next frame, it is in position B. This sort of behavior has been widely reported over the years.

It does seem to be as strong of an argument as ET explanations. If these things really do exist, they may be our distant descendants traveling back in time for reasons unknown. They would already be here just in a different time. They have obvious reasons to be interested in us. And many of the practical issues of space travel go away. Course we have no idea if time travel will ever be practical, but it is theoretically possible, whereas there are no common models for FTL travel. And, FWIW, many people who claim to have encountered ETs, say some look exactly like us - that they could walk around Main St. and you'd never know. They are just a little bigger and stronger looking than most people. They have even been described as being exceedingly beautiful.

When I think of this I have to chuckle a bit. Consider for example the Foo Fighters that followed or ran circles around bombers and attack groups in WWII, or the encounters reported by astronauts who went to the moon. Perhaps future humans were recording the events taking place for the history books! :D

Here is a really strange fact. On one of the lunar missions, the astronaut who remained in orbit above the moon, reported that he saw a light blink on and off on the surface of the dark side of the moon. He saw it several times on one pass. He informed mission control when he came back in contact and was instructed to record it on the next pass if possible. But he didn't see it again. It remains an unexplained event.

Oh yes, and we already know how to make a functional time machine, or at least effectively so. All we have to do is fly to the nearest black hole and circumnavigate the black hole just beyond the event horizon. Thanks to frame dragging, voila! You have a real time machine. As you exit you will run into yourself entering.

And we know how to travel into the future now. All you have to do is to go really fast. You can travel as far into the future as you wish. You just have to get really close to the speed of light. But you never have to reach it. We know we can travel into the future because we do it. And we have proven it. The time dilation is just too small to be significant at the speeds we can travel. So in a very real sense we are time travelers now.

I feel it high time { as opposed to low time } to ask Miss Smarty
about her Id.How she decided on it or why.
I know my Id is strange and deserves explanation.
But it's really simple.I liked Ghoulardi so much,I adopted
    a similar moniker.
