Not all intelligence officers are clandestine and not all clandestine officers are spies. We often have people who are literal pundits, experts in the culture who observe and report on the local goings on, sometimes openly, sometimes not so openly. This guy was an investigative reporter for a well known and respected newspaper. Isn't that just the modern version of a pundit?

It's not much of a mystery. He was murdered by the Saudi government, essentially. We must respond to that, just as we were compelled to respond to Putin's barbarity. Something like this perpetrated by his agents or agents of Bashar al-Assad would certainly be strongly condemned and acted upon. It isn't right to pretend it's different when the Saudis do it and treat them differently.

And I don't see why it should disturb you so for us to take official actions against Saudi Arabia for this official act on their part. It is an entirely different issue from inner city gang banging.

A reporter or pundit who reports to any nations spy agencies is by definition as spy.

What specifically convinces you beyond any "reasonable doubt" that there was a murder, and that KSA did it?

 

On the surface, he was an American resident entitled to the same laws and protections as American citizens. He was a human being and had to right to comment as he saw fit. He was murdered ostensibly as a reaction by the crown prince to his writings as a journalist. A prince who apparently doesn't appreciate a free press.

It is because they are an ally and attacked, tortured, and murdered a journalist, and by extension, the principle of a free press, that they must be shunned, ridiculed, mocked, condemned, and isolated. Additionally, he must be handed over to the Americal judicial system.

If proof surfaces that he was an Iranian spy, then I would reevaluate my position.
