I'll take bleeding eardrums over a bleeding chest wound any day... But again, you are so sage in your advice for 'crawl space' ONLY situations... Perhaps U could enlighten us, out of your apparently infinite experience, on say - your weapon of choice for one hanging upside down, submerged underwater, with one hand tied behind one's back?

Jake, I don’t know the whole story about the crawl space, but let me make these assumptions:

1. If you’re hiding in a crawl space it’s because you believe someone is after yiu.

2. If you believe someone is after you, you take whatever gun you can get your hands on.

3. If you’re hiding in a crawl space, I also going to assume there is only one point of entry to enter that same crawl space.

4. If there is only one point of entry and you have a rifle, you’re not really in a gun fight because you’re essentially a sniper at that point and the guy who’s after you is toast.

But if I had to enter a crawl space looking to flush someone out, then I would agree a rifle isn’t the weapon I would choose.

Before? That is very recent history. The leader of the Democratic Party was 100% alright with not allowing Americans to own handguns in their own homes.

Now if we just listen to quotes by: Feinstein, Swalwell, O'Rourke, Harris, etc. We all know what Leftist/Democrats would attempt if in power. It could lead to disastrous American bloodshed.

Damn right, because Americans possess them. That was a primary goal of the 2nd Amendment. But, they would actually try to not allow Americans to have guns. See Chicago and D.C.

This incident has no relevance to government tyranny. Seems like you just kind of tacked that statement on there.

It would never come to conflict. The last thing our gubmint want s is civil unrest, they would surrender at the first sign of uprising..

 

We Americans have a very effective weapon about this eventuality. It's known as the election process. I keep a .32 cal auto around to protect against gun nuts, drunks, and druggies. My motto: don't aim for the center of mass, put a double tap in the brain bucket.

Actually I’ve done quite a bit of shooting indoors in an abandoned house. I’ve shot handguns and rifles in confined spaces, including from vehicles and in crawl spaces under barns. I can verify that shooting a handgun in an 8 inch aluminum pipe is not good for your ears.

You are correct on one thing. I’ve never been in a sewer fight. Have you? That sounds interesting.

Unless a handgun has good tritium night sights and the shooter has a lot of experience in low light shooting with them, a red dot on an AR is far superior.

What gets people killed or hurt is a weapon they are not comfortable or proficient with. For some people a handgun would be great in this scenario. For others an AR would be superior.

For what it’s worth, for people who are providing their own security indoors, suppressors are something to consider. It’s a pain in the arse to get one but if you ever had to defend yourself in a confined place it could save your hearing and that of your kids in the OP scenario.

 

I believe they have a absolute right to the facts. But that question about why the other family was outside so early almost seems like an attempt to put some blame on them. Do you see it dIfferently? And I will say it’s possible that I might ask the same question if we were talking about my son, because in my mind I’d be saying if this didn’t happen and that didn’t happen my kid might still be alive. It’s a shitty situation for both families. I can’t imagine killing two of my neighbors kids or having two of my kids killed by my neighbor. This story is horrific, just friggin awful.
