Is Donald Trump any different from any other president before him?

Well, a novel result, for once we seem to more or less have a tie.

 

Bingo! Not only corrupt, but flat out evil. What shocks me the most is that so many people can't see the obvious. Or maybe they are just as bad. The only way I can see tolerating his behavior is if you have no morals or decency yourself.

It is a war on truth, a war on decency, a war on liberty, and a war on democracy, and trump is leading the charge. And this is why I have given up on America. If this is America, then America is dead. You can't have a democracy when 40% of the country would support an evil dictator. You can't allow very small and destructive populations to have equal say in the Senate. And the office of President has to go. It is too dangerous to be allowed to continue. The system has utterly failed. The people have utterly failed. Legalize secession and vote to end the madness.

 

How is he evil exactly? How is he a dictator? Trump haters throw these words around but they never actually explain how Trump fits them?

Like every other president in my lifetime, Trump has done some things I agree with, done others I opposed. In that regard he is about the same as any other president in my lifetime. Where Trump differs is in his personality, his non-presidential behavior. This irks the heck out of me. Words and phrases in which I describe him are obnoxious, uncouth, behaves like a schoolyard bully at times. Also Trump throws temper tantrums, usually via twitter and calls others names like a five year old kid who's parents failed to teach him any manners. His persona and perhaps Trump himself belongs in the WWE as a wrestler more than the Oval Office.

Strange isn't it, that one would expect a president to act, shall I say presidential. It's Trump's unconventional behavior, your description, that will cause him to lose in 2020. No doubt most Democrats hate him, most Republicans love him. Their vote is pretty much decided. But what about independents? Although independents are fairly split on Trump's policies and his stances on the issues, they give him only a 39% favorable rating vs. 49% unfavorable. One would expect more of a 50-50 split based on where independents are on what Trump has and or hasn't done. Question 54A

Only 29% of independents like Trump as a person, 42% dislike him as a person. This is more based on Trump's character, his personality, his persona, the way he behaves.

I'd say that's bad news for 2020. Normally a person doesn't vote for someone they dislike. The Democratic Party is still the larger of the two major parties, this means Trump and the GOP must win the independent vote or lose the election. Democrats only have to keep the independent vote fairly close. I'd say lose them by less than 5 points.

But who knows, the democrats may nominate another Hillary Clinton type candidate in which the independent voter dislikes as much or more than Trump. This was the case in 2016 where 70% of independents viewed Hillary negatively vs 57% who viewed Trump negatively. To win in 2020, Trump's only hope in my opinion is that the democrats nominate someone that really turn off independents.
