You know, I can’t say for certain --- because it did not bother me what you were thinking.

But if I were to guess, I would say you are implying Your Best Friend was projecting his own misgivings (at least, the way you see him) upon those he is lamenting over.

My point was more simple. What he said of most leftists on these boards and across this nation is spot on. They are by and large intellectually dishonest and gross hypocrites.

And my point is also spot on.

Change the label and you could be talking about conservatives. \

Intellectual dishonesty, bigotry, gross hypocrisy, - more than enough to go around regardless of one's partisanship.

And denying that conservatives are just as guilty as leftist in this regard fits the definition of "projection" perfectly. thanks.

To continue that line of reasoning: to disrespect the symbols of a set of values, shows disrespect of those values.

We are not that ignorant or naive.
What you contend is by and large and seriously FALSE.

But even if you can express yourself articulately on occasions, I do not find you being intellectually honest enough either. Nor do you seem to care one bit how dishonest is the mainstream media (with all their cover ups of the left) and how much worse are the crimes of lefties in high places (hillary, obama, podesta, et al.) than are anything the nation is obsessing over of Trump.

I don't think anyone believes that the players and teams who are slapping themselves in the face during the Anthem are going to completely destroy the NFL, which is why the question in my OP had to do with whether or not the pushback from the fans would effect the conduct of the teams and we're already seeing that it has:

Roethlisberger says Steelers will be on sideline during national anthem Sunday in Baltimore

As far as the league and its bottom line goes, I wouldn't be surprised if things like TV ratings and merchandise sales decline. Generally, that's to be expected from any business that lets its employees offend its customers...

I've always made the argument that Trump's attacks on the football players were, in part, because of race. If you want to join me in that argument, feel free.

Are you a Steelers fan? If you are, I can't keep being nice to you.

For every lost dollar (which will happen) you will find people who feel like the NFL owners seemed to feel, which was pretty much "stay the eff out of our decisions and do your job" (in response to Trump's comments), and they will spend more money on memorabilia. The net in the end will probably be the same to everyone.

I have some family and friends who hold season tickets to different teams. Many of them are Trump supporters. I asked them if they intended to stop supporting (insert team name here) because of what happened. The answer is always a laughing "no". People who are serious football fans will remain serious football fans after this passes, which it will because something will knock it off front page news. At the end of the day, most people don't want politics or politicians involved in their football, which is technically 60 minutes of play and doesn't involve halftime shows, anthem singing, or anything else.

That's right. Trump's voters saved him from himself. Few things are more valuable than a good hard punch from someone who truly has your best interests at heart.

Which shows how utterly stupid and clueless the kneelers are. It takes a clueless idiot to protest the symbols and values that he/she claims to defend.

That being said, one has to give NFL players credit for reinforcing the negative stereotypes surrounding stupid jocks...

Who started the NFL protests? Who were the first to take knees? There are 5 in particular.

These clowns all went through college on scholarships and maintained the gpa's they need to stay eligible to play by taking and passing the most horrid liberal drivel you can imagine. Now they have degrees and they think they are "educated" and they have heads filled with unchallenged Left-wing swill.

For everyone who thinks the Left's control of Academia is going to give them control of society, view these morons, they are the pinnacle of Progressive studies. The only reason they are still smart enough to breath is because its an involuntary bodily function. These clowns are taking over nothing. What more incredibly beneficial structure could you give them than the NFL, carefully tailored to match their deepest innate talents, and they are pouring gasoline all over it and hunting for matches.

Ferguson, Baltimore, Berkeley, the NFL, this is what you get when "Progressives" get control. Whatever they can lay their hands on, whether its theirs or not, they promptly burn it to the ground.

Hell no. I'm Redskins fan which is even worse.

Anything's possible, but I seriously doubt that will be the case. The only NFL merch I've seen jersey flying off the shelves is Alejandro Villanueva's jersey and he was standing for the Anthem last Sunday.

I'm glad the 'Skins didn't take a collective knee last week, so I'm not going to punish myself, the team and the majority of players for the actions of three disrespectful idiots who didn't stand during the National Anthem.

However, I will say that the Anthem has always been part of the game for me. I take great pleasure and pride in standing together with thousands of my fellow Americans and saluting our nation and the men and women who serve it - it's a great experience (even better with a flyover). I'm cool with people not making that a part of their game, but I'm not cool with people showing dishonor and disrespect.

Redskins? ARGH! I think I knew that and forgot it. I'll do my best to continue forgetting it.

Speaking of the Redskins (URGH), what did you think of the chaos over their name?

I think it's ridiculous, especially in light of the fact that some Native tribes have said they're okay with it.

However, I wouldn't be upset if they changed their name to something like the Washington Warriors and went back to their old uniforms...

Of course, some PC snowflake would probably associate it with the old "spear chucker" slur and we'd be right back where we started...

You have NO IDEA what people you do not know feel about ANYTHING that they have not stated already.

    NONE.

HAHA LMFAO at Spearchucker. Did you ever see the original MASH movie with Sutherland and Gould? There was a black surgeon named Oliver Jones, and his nickname was - you guessed it - Spearchucker! You'll be shocked to hear that character didn't make it to the TV show.

I also thought the brouhaha over the name was absurd. Remember that nitwit Harry Reid whining about it on the Senate floor?

    I like the Warriors helmet.

You say you aren't but that doesn't make it true.

I merely contend that intransigent partisanship on BOTH sides use EXACTLY the same kind of tactics, reserve the same lame insults for their opponents, ignore facts, promote lies and misrepresentations and on and on and on. .

think of it like this. One side has supersoakers full of grape koolaid, the other full of cherry koolaid. in mock battle you can easily identify who shot who because of the color of the koolaid, but everyone on the mock battlefield is using the kind of supersoaker.

I am comfortable with my intellectual honesty.

I notice that you have totally bought off on the notion that the mainstream media is dishonest and runs cover for the evil leftist, therefore rendering anything they have to say as lies. How convenient and deliciously ironic, especially since you and yours believe the paragon of journalistic integrity is Breitbart and Fox.

I notice that you have totally bought off on the unsubstantiated accusations of criminal behavior on the part of democrats but go apoplexic when the inevitable turnaround takes place. As for how innocent or guilty Trump and his minions are , I am perfectly willing to let the investigations run their course and then the world will know one way or another if in fact Trump is a traitor or a dupe.

Further: to disrespect the symbols of a set of values because those values are not being upheld shows respect for those values

LOL - I do remember that...

The Redskins wore those during the mid to late-60s. I like 'em better than the ones they wear now.
