Because we conquered Mexico and put military bases on their land, quit trying to back track from your original statement..you forgot about what I pointed out.

Actually most, perhaps all, of our CONUS bases are on Indian land. It is fairly rare for a river in the U.S. not to have an Indian name; the St. Croix, the Hudson, the Des Moines, and the Columbia are the only such rivers I can think of off hand. Twenty-six of the states were named by Indians.

We didn't put military bases on their land, we made it our land and put military bases on it. We still have military bases in Cuba, Germany, and Japan, and until recently in the Philippines and Panama, but we pay rent for those bases. We didn't keep the land. We don't have a military base on Mexican land, period. The same principle applies to Florida... we took Florida along with the Philippines and Cuba in the Spanish-American war. We kept Florida but we gave the Philippines and Cuba their independence. So we have military bases in Florida, but they are not on Spanish territory, because we made it American territory first.

Straw man..... Nice leap there going from basing your your opinion on one ship and then try to make it about something I never said. Some might call it trolling.

An American navy vs. Russian navy encounter would end as badly for Russia as the Russian-Japanese War of 1904-05.

The Russian navy is a goner in the first minutes of conflict with the USN.

Well they obviously believe in the effectiveness of neuro-linguistic conditioning, which means that the more something is said, the more it will be believed. They're the very donkeys who send their young lives to fight and lose their ****ing wars.

I wouldn't bet on that: as has been proved so many times, you have more hardware than your enemies, but they're always much smarter than you. It's why you keep losing your wars?

We didn't conquer Mexico to get Texas.

Texas had a revolution against the Mexican dictatorship and won its independence.

Consider the neuro-linguistic conditioning implicit in cerebus' post immediately below. It becomes obvious when compared with the facts of American Naval Power of the last two centuries.

Who won the Russo-Japanese War and destroyed several Russian fleets with no difficulty.

American naval operations in the Mexican War, the Civil War, the War with Spain, WWI, and WWII always ended with outstanding American victory?

Americans are quite willing to put Russians at the bottom of the sea if necessary.

Texas had joined the Union the previous fall before operations began in May along the Rio Grande River.

Polk wanted the Pacific coast ports and the Southwest.

Guess what? And the US Navy was a major part of Polk accomplishing his goals.

    The textbooks change over time

What I gave you was a prediction that the lib educators will demonize the heros of the Texas revolution just as they have every other white man in American history

The heroes of the Texas Revolution and their motives were a mixed bag, yes.

Bowie, the former slaver, dying of consumption at the Alamo.

Crockett, a failed Congressman from TN, re-seeking political glory at the Alamo.

Travis, a syphilitic who abandoned his children, seeking martyrdom at the Alamo.

Houston, a recovering alcoholic, performing miracles in the cause for independence while surrounded by men trying to undermine him.

The desire to create a White Man's Civilization in Texas, realized by 180 thousand black slaves out of a population of 600 thousands by 1860.

    An incredible story.

The Mueller investigation is getting to the facts of the matter.
