Democrats offer race based and gender based special rights, that will always work. If some organization promise you privileges like Affirmative Actions you have to be stupid not to vote for that organization.

They started voting Democrat in presidential elections for FDR, who was a game-changer of a president in many, many ways. But a majority of blacks didn't identify as Democrat until 1948 or so, after Truman desegregated the military.

Even after that, Republicans still got a good share of the black vote. Eisenhower got 39 percent; Nixon got 32 percent in 1960.

Then Johnson passed the Civil Rights Act, and Barry Goldwater opposed it. Johnson got 94 percent of the black vote in 1964, and Democrats have held a dominant share of the black vote ever since.

 

Johnson was one of those that never found an anti-lynching bill he could vote for while in the Senate.

Soo...92 to 98% of blacks vote Democrat, but for some reason blacks who don't vote are secretly conservatives? Sure you wanna go with that? What's the hidden mechanism that would make non-voting blacks have vastly different political views than voting blacks?

Besides I'm pretty sure that polls are about asking random people, regardless of whether they go vote or not. And the polls say the same thing, 95% of blacks support the Democrats.
