At this point it's up to the people of Al. If it's a big issue, it will drive people to the polls to voice their opinion on the topic.
I am pro choice, but am not all favorable towards abortion. At one time I was 100% antiabortion antichoice.

 

Where potential politicians can target teenage girls in malls and doctors can go to jail for protecting a woman's life.

There are many women (probably MOST, except for those who are anxious to be pregnant) who do not even know they are pregnant at ten weeks. So you are essentially saying "no abortions"...but you wrote, " I'm also for allowing woman to have the right to abort the fetus for any reason before brain activity starts. That's where I would draw the line."

I suspect Alerbama does not need to fear a bevvy of intelligent politically active women invading their state. I think their med school in Tuscaloosa may endure some laughs though.

 

I think that is really the point of the law. Alabama does not want women who had sex without intending procreation to have access to abortions, even pharmaceutical induced ones.

There are impediments to the law, not just the 14th amend and Roe itself, but federal preemption of drug licensing.

 

Women always have had abortions and always will and there will always be people able to provide them. The difference is simply whether the people of Alabama want women to die having abortions. I would think while they are trying this women will just go to the nearest State with proper medical care like women from N.Ireland come to Britain. It is more harassing and time wasting but that is what they will need to do till proper medical care is restored.

Pro abortionists do NOT care about children...have they ever thanked their mothers for NOT aborting THEM? If not, they had better...otherwise they would be DEAD.

Sometimes I think pro-choicers should be given just a little bit more time to abort their own, and then we could have sensible regulations on abortion.

 

I don't know why people only refer to abortions after 24 weeks as "late-term".

18-20 weeks is pretty late too.

To me, if it's dancing around in there and sucking its thumb, it's a baby.

 

When it can survive on its own, then it is a baby. Until then it is a parasite.

And fight they should--and vote too. I support their cause, because the Alabama Abortion Ban is NOT a way to save fetuses, but a plan to deprive all American women of rights it took centuries for them to attain. Conservatives are hypocrites & disingenuous, in that they call themselves Pro-Life, but they don't give a whit about the challenges facing any baby after birth (except their own). True Pro-Life supporters would care about life after birth, not just fetuses before birth. True Pro-Life supporters would care just as much about sending our national youth into harms way against the youth of other nations, as they care about the lives of unborn fetuses. But they don't. True Pro-Life supporters would care about relieving the pain & suffering of infants & children born into depraved economic or emotional families, and want to assist. But they don't. True Pro-Life supporters would care about life & the quality of life for all. But they don't. Pro-Life supporters are disingenuous & dishonest. They only care about "life" that is physically nonviable & unborn--life that they don't have to assist, & doesn't cost them any money. Disgusting.

 

I wonder how much the GA and AL laws are going to radicalize female voters in those states.

There is a reason why in the past - smart Republicans avoided the abortion issue (sans in a room full of religious right zealots) like the plague.

This is a huge mistake on the part of the GOP. One of the main reasons why Trump won is because many dems - especially those in the middle and the anti establishment leaning dems - did not show up.

Nothing gets blue out to the polls and even those on the right that lean to the middle (such as myself) like the abortion issue. I hate Blue Establishment with a passion but, will vote for Blue on the basis of Red doing what they are doing in Georgia.
