You don't see the threat from China so discussing how to deal with it is ridiculous. You aren't going to convince me that China is not an enemy.

Our military bases in Europe and Asia are in countries with their permission. That is not the case with China's man-made islands in the SCS. To make such a comparison is ridiculous.

China is an oppressive totalitarian regime with no respect whatsoever for human rights. They probably don't even have words for it in their language. For them to be spreading their power and influence around the world is a threat to all people who care about human rights and liberty.

I responded to your post head-on. You failed to respond to the questions I asked and the statements I made.

 

The "rich" don't make all the decisions. The "business community" puts forward its
agenda like anyone else. Sometimes govts listen, sometimes they might take on
board their own electorates, or the green lobby, or the unions or international
considerations.
Sometimes I wish businesses DID make more decisions - we would be a richer
nation for sure.

confiscate their wealth and nationalize everything - Soviet style.

1. I asked "you" (or whoever it was) why you/he think of China as "the enemy".
2. Your response is a list of largely unrelated things that you don't like about China and you present it in a fashion that supposedly shows that China is an unprovoked aggressor against the U.S. thus proving (or insinuating) that China is "your enemy". So why don't you toss out the silly points (that have nothing to do with a display of "enemy" characteristics) and put forward the points that you really think support "your enemy" theory. Let's immediately throw out 'human rights record at home' and go from there. O.K.?

Not at all. The threat from China is very real. People such as yourself who want to ignore it are part of the problem. Apathy and ignorance in the west are weaknesses exploited by China.

If you change your mind and decide to learn something about this issue you could start with a book called Unrestricted Warfare, written by two PLA officers and published by the PLA in 1999.

What's the point in that? You do know where the tax money ends up, right? It gets put back into circulation of the Military-Industrial-Political complex. It sounds like corruption to me.
