I watched the first 3/4's of the game. Although I somehow knew Auburn would win, I didn't want to waste time watching them lose so switched to the Stanford game, just for a change of pace. I have no vested interest in any of the teams in the two games mentioned here.

However..., while not listening to the Stanford game, I caught the announcer saying something about the A/A game and something 'unbelievable', so I switched back in time to see them decide there really was one second left. And to critics of the Texas/Nebraska champion game of a few years ago... there are plenty of seconds to be spread around. This was just one of them.

Then watched the unbelievable missing of he field goal (well, that was believable), run back, and win. I wonder if Alabama is ready to dump Saban? Maybe that job at Texas is still open... :eyepopping:

    What a game.

Mizzou beats Johnny football (Texas A&M)
Mizzou vs. Auburn in the SEC Championship

Nobody in this State would have made a bet on that at the start of the season, but reality is stranger than fiction sometimes.

I don't think Bama is going to let Saben go anytime soon. The man has done a fantastic job at Alabama and if he goes anywhere it will be his choice. Bama would be insane to fire him.

SEC thinks a 3 loss LSU is good though... me thinks me smells a HOMER....

"which team shows up" means, poor coaching of great athletes....

At this point... the focus needs to be who is #2.... OSU or AU at this point. WHich won't matter whenever this weeks games are played because I think OSU gets beat by Mich State.

The way I see the championship game, and it was what I have said all year long, even at the beginning.... It will be an SEC champ vs a team not (preseason) in the top 10. FSU started #11 and I just really don't think OSU will win this saturday.

For Bama to get back into the game.... they would need both FSU and OSU to lose. Not saying it can't happen... but FSU is a 4 td favorite.... an analysist said, not only would it be the biggest upset this year, it would be the biggest upset in the BCS history... of course, the Jameis Winston cloud still looms over FSU

    - - - Updated - - -

they would be dumb to let him go. Sunday morning qbing of him has shown he is still human... but considering his accomplishments... if Bama fans were to want him fired, or let him go, would be stupid..... lest they forget the Mike Shula years.... lol

yup, Mizzou has proven themselves to be real; good for them. The Gamecocks also put Clemson in their place

Spurrier has yet another 10 win season, well done

that SC / Clemson game is typical.... Spurrier even said it, "they just don't play us well"

I still think AU beats Mizzou.
I think Mich State beats OSU so I do believe in the SEC champs vs FSU is in the making.

why, because they beat a 3 loss tx a+m team that has 2 good players? because they beat a 4 loss GA taht was beat up? because they beat an 8 loss UF? Who has Mizzou actually beaten to prove themselves "real" to anyone other than the SEC marks who's teams got beat by them

Michigan State could beat Ohio State and that is the outcome I am looking for.

I am looking for Auburn to be SEC champs...but I could be wrong on all counts. Auburn just needs to give some of that luck back to the Irish. I think they stole it.

as a Seminole fan... I want our matchup to be against OSU. We can beat them with or without Jameis, I think. as a fan with a dog in the fight, I want the easiest opponent that my team has the best chance of beating, the easiest. I could care less about the best matchup.

However, with that said... the best possible game would be FSU vs AU and FSU vs Mizzou would be the next best, I think. But at this point... I think it's mathematically impossible for Bama vs FSU to happen unless it's not in the national championship....

You're "attacking": Missouri and other top 5 teams for having easier schedules, when in fact Florida State has had the easier schedule.

    Power rankings, strength of schedule:
    source = http://www.teamrankings.com/college-football/ranking/strength-of-schedule-by-team

    #4 Auburn (10-1) 36.8
    #5 Alabama (10-1) 36.6
    #23 Missouri (10-1) 33.5
    #42 Florida St (11-0) 30.8
    #52 Ohio State (11-0) 29.2

If we set aside our personal biases in rooting for a particular team, it's clear to me that Auburn and Alabama have had the tougher road to the BCS.

We've already seen the Championship...Auburn and Alabama played it.

FSU vs. OSU will be an inferior game, as evidenced by the strength of schedule.

It's not the fault of the team they played easier schedules and they did their jobs and have won, with OSU barely winning over an unranked Michigan,
and a tough test ahead with Michigan State. So the argument can be made FSU, has the easier path facing Duke.

This is by the numbers, personal bias aside.

In my opinion, I'll say again, the Championship game has been played, Auburn vs. Alabama were the 2 best teams in the nation.

Basing power rankings on playing a #7 Texas a+m is not the same as using a 4 loss Texas a+m to determine SOS
Only sec fans think 4 loss TX a+m and 3 loss lsu is "quality"

Statistically speaking, Michigan State has the best run defense in the country, and Ohio State is the 2nd best running the ball at 321 yards per game. I'm curious which team is going to win the battle on the line in that match-up. Should be a good game.

Strength of schedule is a factor, but unfortunately I have to disagree as do many, there is no doubt FSU is the best team in the country, they dominate every aspect of the game, yes the schedule was weak, but they dominated it, there was never a game that was in doubt. Which is what a championship team does. Auburn is where they are by a miracle play, and a bonehead decision by an opposing coach. They have no passing game and rely heavily on the run, that won't fly against FSU. Meanwhile FSU can move the ball any you want to, through the air and on the ground, they are physical and fast upfront on defense and are sound in all three phases of the game. The national championship was not played on 11/30/2013

AU has not played anyone still in the top 15 save Bama
Bama has not played anyone still in the top 15 save AU
FSU has played 1 team still in the top 15 - Clemson

so, all said and done, we've all played one top 15 team.... judging a strength of schedule based on preseason rankings (that had 3 loss, now #25 LSU in the top 5 and texas a+M who was #7, but now has 4 losses) doesn't count. Only the SEC gets the 'privlege of using stats like that when determining SOS.

Neither AU or Bama has played south Carolina or Mizzou

I think you misunderstand me here. I am with you, FSU all the way. There is no team in college football today that can line up with FSU. They are better at every position, and deeper at every position than anyone else in the hunt. It is FSU's Championship to lose.

I hear ya... i just find it funny, the BCS leaves out teams that arguably deserve it more than #2 year after year, and the system is "just fine" because the SEC wins.... yet whenever the SEC is now on the outside looking in... "it's un-american" according to the AU AD..... gimme a friggin break.

don't lose to a 3 loss team and you are in Aubie.....

Hopefully, the FBS will soon get to a true playoff system where it can be decided on the field instead of in the ratings. And I think the playoffs should go more than 4 deep as they are planning for 2014. I would think the playoffs would need to go at least 8 deep to not have some legit team complaining that they didn't get a shot at it.

The FCS playoffs are currently up to a 24 deep field, which is a bit much IMO, as it forces some teams to play up to 5 games in the postseason to win the title or runner-up spot.

I agree.... you can incorporate the lesser bowls like Holiday bowls, or citrus, or Cotton into the mix of the playoffs, and not extend bowl offers to every 6-6 team out there....

I agree with extending to at least 8. Sure there will be arguing who #8 and #9 is, but I'd rather have the bubble be down there, than at the #2/#3 spot that it currently is

Next year the FBS goes to a 4 team playoff. I don't like the fact that it is done by selection process, I think the BCS formula should still be used to determine the top 4 teams. The selection process gets kind of goofy and sticky when you start to get into the 4 v 5 arguement. then the suggestion of a playin game comes up which is why march madness is now a 68 team field instead of the true 64. I firmly believe if you are in you are in, no second chances, you had plenty during the regular season to make your point. but that's just me.
