Oh wow you got me...The problem is that North Carolina law does not supersede Federal which the BATFE is a Federal Agency. So even if North Carolina expunges the record, it is still logged in a Federal database. The person would have to have the State Attorney General lobby the Federal Government for the expulsion of Federal Records. Try again, by the way, one state of 50 does not epidemic make.
Post directly above, gave you six with a two minute search, and as I said, if you read further you'll see lawyers advertising to perform the task for you
Under each of these, a person can legally own a firearm. Not sure how you thnnk this negates what I said.
I disagree. The 2nd amendment states the right to keep and bear arms. The word bear could readily be construed to mean weapons that a man can carry, which would preclude nukes.
Actually, you make a very helpful, and useful point about the 'arms' being of such a dimension that a person could 'bear' them. But, you know what's coming next... "Yeh, but what about 'suitcase-nukes'...?" See? For every intelligent observation there's an idiotic counter-point. Clearly, it was the intention of the Founders of this nation that every law-abiding citizen should have the right to defend himself, his loved ones, and his property, and that this right necessarily entails the ability to use deadly force if necessary....
True, and when Big 5 start selling suitcase nukes it would be a problem. Look forward to my Sunday newspaper flyer "Labor dale sale. 20% off any nuke in the store"
Is there any reason why law abiding citizens shouldn't be able to exercise their rights freely across the nation?
You may not be far wrong! Did you know that, for instance, you can make a nuclear "dirty bomb" with a soft drink can-sized container of nuclear waste, wrapped around with a small jacket of C4 explosive? No, it wouldn't level a city, but it could put several square blocks of a major city off-limits for over a month. Now... what might something like THAT do to 'business-as-usual'...?
