The left wing doesn't believe relying on random chance to feed the hungry is acceptable.

That may be the problem. Liberals just choose bad charities. ;-)

No, it is how charities work now.

Ultimately it comes down to leaving charity to random chance, as opposed to taking definitive action. Leaving essential survival needs to random chance is just a cop out.

Fisher House, Samaritan's Purse, and The Salvation Army are good charities. There are many more.
You can Google to find ratings for all the major charity orgs..

Only my family and I would share in the wealth and the Fed, State, and whoever else is out of luck. Still have to pay taxes on the win and gift tax.

I do not get much charity spam, but I do get mail from the charities I donate to.
A waste of postage and trees since I send a check once a year and the solicitations are unnecessary.

Taxes are taken out of the winnings, so that would be my "contribution". Also, with all the taxes I would pay on the income I earned, there would be even more per year added to the gov't treasury.

I would do a lot for animal shelters and give money to those organizations as well as things that benefit the clean up of the oceans and rid them of plastic.

Even with a $250 million lottery win, my life would stay similar, with just more vacations and longer times spent overseas. A villa in Switzerland might be in order. :)

and very much overlooked, in my opinion. Animal sanctuaries free from hunters and poachers is another area that is neglected. Apex predators like wolves help cull herds of deer and keep a balance in nature. Seeing them hunted to near extinction is a tragedy. A tragedy that can be avoided with some care and resources.

I would buy a 45' Selene and keep it in San Diego Bay. I would commute back and forth between there and here in Tucson. After taxes I would give the rest to friends. My being 84 years old is a big influence in my decision.

I’d happily fund bounty hunters to take out poachers and the bear bile farmers.

Because of all of the great charitable work that it does.

A great example is how it enabled Bonespurs to use other peoples' money to settle his own lawsuits. That's awesome. He's so charitable!

If you want to talk about charity...

    Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
As of May 16, 2013, Bill Gates had donated $28 billion to the foundation.[1][10] Since its founding, the foundation has endowed and supported a broad range of social, health, and education developments including the establishment of the Gates Cambridge Scholarships at Cambridge University.

The foundation is controlled by its three trustees: Bill and Melinda Gates, and Warren Buffett.- pledged to give the foundation approximately 10 million Berkshire Hathaway Class B shares spread over multiple years through annual contributions, with the first year's donation of 500,000 shares being worth approximately $1.5 billion...

Tax deductible, to a point. Still, that is a lot of money donated to charities. Paul Newman comes to mind as another who did a lot of charity and created a good amount of jobs without taking a penny for himself.

Charity often crosses the lines between party politics. Only losers and haters go after those that do charitable work.

$125 million to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. $124 million to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

$1 million for us and to share with family.

Keep in mind you may create a tax liability for your own family.
