One of the few comments here that, while on the surface in the same vain as others, is actually something that might create some impressions within Iran. There is never a good time for any tragedies like these, but the timing of these suck.

Iran is a cowardly nation and shooting down a passenger airline is right up their alley.

They made a pathetic symbolic attempts at retaliation the other day, but it was a planned miss just to save face. They & MSNBC reported that 30 Americans were dead, but that was an outright lie. They warned Iraq prior to the bombings & the Americans were safe in the bunkers before the missiles arrived.

Iran likes victims that don’t shoot back, like passenger airlines or suicide bombers in a shopping mall.

Too bad about people who lost their lives, but when you go to Iran, these are the risks you take.

The Tor missile system can easily reach 20,000 feet in altitude. The plane was almost 8,000 feet above sea level. Given that Tehran is 3,000 feet above sea level, the Tor missile system could have hit the plane at 4 times higher than it was. The plane was only 5,000 feet above the ground.

So a missile with a proximity fuse detonates at maximum range and the plane blows up no matter what... i got it now.

 

What do you want us to do... We have brave soldiers but we're only about 40 millions against a country of 120milions thousands of miles away. We've severeed all diplomatic ties with iran due to there human right issues years ago.

Some people here are really hopeless. Obviously, they want a war and are simply disappointed their hero, Trump, didn't take that option after Iran's strikes.

147 of the victims were Iranian. Why would they do that?

Of course, it could have been a mistake, somebody may have thought the airplane was an American attack.

However, from what I read in "Spiegel", there is tons of fake pictures of Iranian missile wreckage floating around on social media. Who knows what is true at this point?

Of course, the US should be careful about chastising others about accidentally shooting down passenger airplanes. Those who sit in glass houses.....

Well currently the data points to Iran. Personally if it is them, I would say it was an accident. Iran does have a terrible history for general management, here their air tasking management, would have to be redone completely. Like the stampede at the funeral, their police and administrators should have been prepared for that, no exceptions.
