For the record let me state that I never thought that the Russia investigation had the mandate or the political will to really investigate the criminality of the Trump organization going back decades or that organizations real ties to Russian mobsters and oligarchs, including those closely associated with Vladimir Putin.

Nor have I ever stated that I thought Russian bots and trolls had lost the election for Hillary Clinton. My position has always been that Hillary was a terrible candidate with enough baggage and past suspicion of criminality in her own right to make her unpalatable to a large segment of Americans.

That being said, the American government has been run like a criminal syndicate for decades - at least back to the end of WWII where, under the auspices of fighting it's supposed existential enemy - a convenient and necessary enemy for justifying criminality, mind you - the US has undertaken all manner of illegal interventions in the affairs of other countries and allowed criminal fraud to become rampant in it's internal economic affairs.

One only need look at covert operations to overthrow democratically elected officials in other nations beginning in the early fifties and continuing to the present day or indeed actual armed invasions, illegal under international law, that the US considers fair game when it decides it has the unilateral right to attack another nation to know that criminality is rampant in all levels of US policy.

Further, one only need to look at the long list of financial and banking scandals the US government or US government or intelligence officials have been implicated or indicted under to know that financial criminality that would make the Italian underworld blush is standard procedure for the American political class.

This criminality includes major scandals such as Savings and Loan, where Bush family members were implicated to BCCI (bank of crooks and criminals international) which laundered money for all manner of criminal organizations including the CIA and close associates of US allies such as Saudi Arabia. It includes the Iran/Contra affair, a criminal arms and drug operation run out of the WH for which a couple of officials were slapped on the wrist while the main operators moved on to top levels of government. It includes the deregulation of criminal organizations like Enron or Lehman Bros. or Citigroup for the explicit purpose of defrauding The American public with and leaving taxpayers holding the bag for financial criminality at the highest level.

One could go on and on listing these criminal events going back to the fifties to the present day but you get the point.

As the Mueller investigation comes to it's conclusion, what are we to make of the fact that Mueller was either unable or unwilling to investigate the real criminality of the Trump organization? On one hand, he probably never had the mandate to investigate the past business ties of the Trump organization with Russian mobsters and oligarchs going back to the eighties as this did not directly tie to the 2016 election. On the other hand if you really want to understand Donald Trump's real relationship to Russia and Vladimir Putin, you need to go back and follow the money that started pumping into the Trump organizations from criminal elements in the former Soviet Union and it's breakaway republics to understand why Putin was so very happy to have someone as unqualified and mired in shady business practices and fraudulent investment as Donald Trump elected president of the USA.

I have posted much background on the Trump organization on another thread but to review I will repost some links for anyone interested in the real Trump/Russia story for anyone interested in actually understanding the history of Trump and Russia.

Trump's Russian Laundromat from the New Republic:

"But even without an investigation by Congress or a special prosecutor, there is much we already know about the president’s debt to Russia. A review of the public record reveals a clear and disturbing pattern: Trump owes much of his business success, and by extension his presidency, to a flow of highly suspicious money from Russia. Over the past three decades, at least 13 people with known or alleged links to Russian mobsters or oligarchs have owned, lived in, and even run criminal activities out of Trump Tower and other Trump properties. Many used his apartments and casinos to launder untold millions in dirty money. Some ran a worldwide high-stakes gambling ring out of Trump Tower—in a unit directly below one owned by Trump. Others provided Trump with lucrative branding deals that required no investment on his part. Taken together, the flow of money from Russia provided Trump with a crucial infusion of financing that helped rescue his empire from ruin, burnish his image, and launch his career in television and politics. “They saved his bacon,” says Kenneth McCallion, a former assistant U.S. attorney in the Reagan administration who investigated ties between organized crime and Trump’s developments in the 1980s."

Four Corners Documentary, Trump/Russia: Secrets, Spies and Useful Idiots:

So the question becomes, which yet another meaningless investigation that failed completely to expose the criminality of the US government to it's people and to hold anyone other than the usual lackies like Cohen or Manafort accountable, how do we avoid the conclusion that we are governed by an international criminal syndicate with no accountability to the people it supposedly serves. And don't be fooled into thinking that Russia and other criminal rogue nations that scoff at international law because they are allies of the US criminal syndicate are not laughing with joy at Mueller's failed report and it's refusal to hold judgement and it's implied vindication of the Trump criminal organization.

This is very serious. We are governed by criminals who game the economic and military affairs of the country to their own interest and those of their criminal cronies.

With the failure of Mueller to take responsibility, there is little left to stop them now or the continuing spiral into criminal enterprise.

Excellent point!! An American public stupified into indiference by materialism, easy credit and debt, celebrity culture and reality tv.

Not to mention a corporate media that saturates the public with infotainment and political theatre for ratings and profit.

You are quite correct on pointing out how distracted most are from the reality of criminality in government :applause::D

Oddly enough, I am entirely debt free, don't watch TV and enjoy living below my means which enabled my early retirement.

And what is wrong with that? How is your life improved by railing against criminality in the government? What good does it do anyone?

Or have you found a way to monetize it?

100% of them commit several federal crimes on a daily basis. Voters have the power to hold them accountable for poor results, but they keep voting to give the government even more power. Now the government is in charge of health care and pharm companies are enjoying record profits while Americans are sicker than ever. All of this is 100% legal while Americans are fighting among each other.

There are more laws on the books than you can read in a lifetime. (Even if you live to 1000) Every American commits an average of 3 Federal crimes per day. Just hope that someone who opposes your political views doesn't have you investigated.

Oddly it's mostly the same for me - except for the debt free part. Got into the real estate market when prices were normal and made profit on all the houses I bought and was able to retire to hobby farming in my dotage.

I think it is important to participate in the political process and to make informed decisions on those who rule over us. If tentative democracy is being undermined by an increasingly criminal oligarchic class who are accountable to no one and enabled and personified by people like the orange buffoon currently occupying the WH, this does not concern you? Why? Because you personally are so far okay?

Agree completely with most of this post - especially the part about corporations running record profits and undermining democracy through the purchase of political power while Americans are busy fighting among themselves

3 federal crimes each day?? Good Lord! I guess you're not paranoid if they are really out to get you.....:truce:

I agree completely! America is not even the worst example of criminality or corruption - by far. The problem is that America has so much military and economic power that it really sets he stage for how the rest of the world moves forward. And as we have seen in the past with other illegal (under international law) unilateral actions such as the attack on Iraq or Libya, America holds itself accountable to no one and is prone to irrational, unprovoked aggression such as we see coming with Iran.

If the US is increasingly ruled by a criminal, corporate, oligarchic elite who feel they are completely above the law and able to usurp the power of government to it's own ends, what does that imply for the democratic process in the rest of the world?

Sound's good. What are you complaining about?

Actually, I think the Orange Buffoon is anathema to the ruling class. He is despised by both Democrats and mainstream Republicans. And as far as I can see, the oligarchs are big supporters of the Democratic Party. Hillary Clinton was certainly their creature.

Trump has given the ruling class, the Mercers, Adelsons and Koch's of the world everything they ever could have wanted in their wildest wet dreams - that is why the financed his campaign and his presidency. He is also giving the ruling elites of Israel and Saudi Arabia everything they ever could have dreamed along with the armament industry that supplies them.

It is true that the Democratic party has been corrupted to the core by corporate money but but Trump is far from anathema. He is feeding the beast Zarathustra and it is rising........

I'm complaining because it is Muslims, immigrants, minorities and the poor who they are coming for today as teh beast feeds itself for destruction as it did in the 30's and 40's and make no mistake, eventually it is coming for us all.......

The investigation failed because it was based on a lie.

    There was no Russian collusion.

It was a hoax invented by Trump's enemies.

And you don't have to be a Trump supporter in order to see that.

Meanwhile, the Trump administration is committing impeachable offenses right out in the open by waging an undeclared and therefore illegal war against the Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Not only has there been no congressional authorization for this war, the congress has expressly denied any authorization for it.

Impeaching Trump for his unconstitutional war in Yemen would be a legal cakewalk. Yet those who claim to "resist" Trump aren't even contemplating it. Instead, they remain fixated on Russia, Russia, Russia and the new cold war.

When the Democrats are in power its a different elite that rises.... Trump it is the old elite who benefits, I must add they do appear to be seeing the writing on the wall and making a last ditch all of nothing grab for it ito resources. Golan Heights and Venezuela.

Democrats vs Republicans is two powerhouses of wealthy elites going head to head stripping the worlds resources... the rest of us gets crushed in-between.

We do it, the British have been doing it for over 150 years. Russia has been doing it since 1920. Even the Chi-Coms do it, just follow the DNC money trail and it goes back to Beijing.

Look at how many Mexican citizens are part of the California state legislature and Gov. Gavin Newsom just announced he is going to El Salvador to recruit more MS-13 gang members. Yes, the California state legislature still has the welcome mat out at the border.

Corruption is worse than ever simply because there's more money floating around than ever before. The worst have been Government officials emptying the coffers of their own countries, leaving their fellow countrymen in debt and stashing their millions and billions away in offshore accounts.

as for Newsom, let him go... let him see, certainly the drug cartel, gangs and refugee situation south of the US border is and will continue to deteriorate.

Then why is the elite through their creatures, the MSM and the intelligence agencies, doing everything possible to destroy Trump?

The Koch's are not supporting Trump. And neither are the Gates', Zuckerburg's, or the Bezos' of the world.

I am unfamiliar with "the beast Zarathustra."

I think I will make that mistake. Your analysis above does not comport with reality, so I feel free to discount it.

Mueller was hired for a specific purpose, and given way too much leeway even for that but what you want is a true witch hunt.

You don't even need for an accusation of a crime to be committed, you just want to dig up Trumps whole personal life and hope you find something.

That is unconstitutional but not only that, it's just plain wrong.

So you'd agree with Murray Rothbard's assertion that the state is "a gang of thieves writ large — the most immoral, grasping and unscrupulous individuals in any society."

Don't know if I think the collusion story was a hoax in it's entirety but I certainly agree that the Democrats have shot themselves in the foot going forward by their obsession with Russia and the campaign.

The trouble with the Trump admin and impeachable offenses is that you need congress for that and unfortunately, the Democrats are right on board with arming and supporting both Saudi Arabia in it's murderous war on the poorest people on the planet. It is all about economic and military destabilization of Iran which both parties are complicit. The dems know who butters their bread and are not about to resist the Trump Admin's dirty wars of aggression against those they mistakenly and self-servingly think of as Iranian proxies in Yemen.

But then, the US government has been waging illegal wars of criminality far before Trump of which the Reagan Admin's skirting of the Boland Amendment to arm the Contras is a perfect example.

But yes, the fixation on Russian interference by Democrats especially considering how many foreign governments the US has not only interfered with but outright overthrown - a process which continues to this day with tragic result on people living in those countries.

And this is the truth of the matter when you strip away all the patriotic jargon and propaganda. Who benefits from these insane policies of aggression and avarice? The American people? I think not. It is the oligarchic gangster elites not only in the US but in Saudi Arabia and Israel (how many corruption investigations is Netanyahu facing even as he continues his murderous cleansing of Palestine - a project that the Trumpers are not only enabling but are willing partners - even encouraging) who are falling all over themselves with joy that a gangster administration as corrupt as Donald Trump's has arisen and thrown off all pretense of being an honest broker or mediator in world affairs and has given them carte blanche to rape and pillage at will.

That is what is so frustrating about political discussions on forums like this. People (Americans) are so caught up in the right/left or democratic/republican political theater that keeps us fighting with each other and distracted from the brutal criminality and destruction that is destroying the planet and the lives of people all around the world that they literally cannot see that both parties are just different faces of the same beast and serve the same masters in the corporate/military/intelligence/security apparatus that is rapidly taking us all prisoner.

The rise of Trump and the inability of democratic institutions to hold him and his ilk in both parties in check is a sign of the desperate situation we are facing.

You did not read any of the articles or view the 3 part documentary I posted did you?

There is no way to discuss this with you if you choose to willfully ignore all evidence that does not conform to your view.

There is plenty in Donald's past that not only should be examined but desperately needs to be examined - why do you think he is so desperate to cover it up?

Were you as outraged by Trump's birther accusations against Obama - you know digging up his personal life hoping to find something - or is it just me you think is just plain wrong for exposing Trump's criminality?

Don't you think it is good to actually know what type of criminal fraud and con artist has been elected to run your country or do you think hiding your head in the sand will save you from what Trump is doing to democratic institutions in your country and the unrest his administration is sowing around the globe?

    Yup! Basically.

I think there are honest people who start out with the goal of serving the people but they are drowned out and fall from power if they don't play the game - especially in an administration as corrupt and sordid as this one.
