There is no such thing as a $1billion/yr INCOME.

The income level would have to be outrageously high in order for the OP to make his claim. There is no other way to take 99.9% of what someone makes and still be able to call that person rich, unless you set the income level at an impossibly high level.

Let's say someone makes 10 million a year, which is a very high income level, and would almost certainly put someone in the top percentages in the country. Tax him/her at 99.9%, and that person is left with $10,000 a year, which is less than what minimum wage workers make.

Sorry, protectionist. Your argument is extremely stupid on this one.

If American libs want to tax our corporations more then the corp can send even more money abroad and hire more accountants.

That doesn't sound like a game that corporate-hating libs can win.

I think the income tax for those making over a billion a year should absolutely be in the 90s.

It really doesn't matter how high taxes go if you structure it correctly. Business always yearns to profit. As long as there isn't a huge jump from one tax bracket to another no business is going to say they're not going to expand their business out of fear of moving up to the next tax bracket.

How many people do you think make "over a billion a year" in this country?

And yes, businesses always yearn for profit. Take away their ability to earn that profit, and you will have no businesses. See how that works?

    With no deductions?

Are you excluding capital gains or is it just one tax rate for every dollar they make?

If you raise the capital gains tax I think over time you will have less investment capital in this country.

And if you squeeze the super rich too much they will move to another country.

And I have the example of card carrying liberals to prove it.

The Beatles left England because of the unreasonable tax rates and so did Bono who left Ireland.

And you know if the pinkest bastards in libdom want to avoid taxes then every lib does.

The opposite is actually true. But I wasn't going to cry if your lie was true.

    I like it!

That jerk wants to pile it on the middle and lower classes.
That's what the Republicans always do.
Why not stick some of it up the arse of those who can afford it.

No, he wants everybody to pay the same percentage of their income to fund the Government. Since the lower classes are the ones consuming most of the benefits, they should pay something for it.

And, of course, the better option would be to cut the size and scope of Government so that nobody has to take "it up the arse", but you liberals couldn't live without a big, bloated Government, could you?

String a few up and take away the citizenship of any who send their money abroad and they'll come to heel very soon.

If they were helping others (rather than underpaying them), they wouldn't be billionaires.

Wow. There are a lot of people here who are poor for very obvious reasons.

Continue to waste your life hating people who have more than you. See how much fulfillment that brings you on your deathbed.

They are helping others. They are supplying jobs to people who would not have a job, otherwise.

    Something akin to this :

The wealthiest 20% of the US households are set to receive about $6.5 Trillion in personal income this year, half of all national personal income. Their average tax burden is around 26%, or about $1.7 Trillion. This leaves them with $4.8 Trillion of disposable income each year.

The current budget deficit is around $1.2 Trillion, or about one fourth of the disposable income of the wealthiest. They could be taxed enough to eliminate the budget deficit and still receive 3/4 of their income.

Ok? What does that have to do with taxing rich people at nearly 100%?

This is 100% about you being jealous of rich people having more money than you do.

so the government watses money like a bunch of retards and you take it out on the rich who didnt have anything to do with that?

all the sudden because you are rich you have to put 99% of your income into the governments hands?

oh yeah thats a smart move, im sure all those rich people would love to still live here instead of taking their money else where so some snivveling lil jealous hack cant touch their money.

thanks thats a great idea, scare off the rich and then the jobs they do provide will all go somewhere else.

then what you gonna do when its just us middle class folk left, you gonna demand i give up 99% of my earnings as well?

There's plenty of things that can be done to fix the deficit. Even eliminating immigration would be a huge help (as well as for the unemployment problem). So what ? That doesn't mean that a 99.9% tax on the wealthiest billionaires in America is a bad idea. It's not a bad idea to clean your windows, just because steam cleaning does a great job on your carpets.

Simple solution. Hire other actors. Anyone can act. We all do it every day.

Or, instead of robbing people of their legitimately earned money, we can spend a lot less and close the deficit that way. Does that even enter the realm of possibility, for you?

Or the 50% of people in the country who pay no federal income tax at all can start pitching in, since they use most of the social services our Government provides. Shouldn't they pitch in something for it?

That top 20% already pays the overwhelming majority of the taxes in this country. They also supply the most jobs. Why should they be punished because of the Government's wrecklessness and inefficiency?

They provide much less of it proportionately, than their past generation counterparts paid. Over most of the past 94 years, taxes were never less than 70% on the top bracket, and ran as high as 94%. Today's billionaire's tax is a joke.

Don't you see. The problem with the left is that they are lazy. They always take the easy way out of things. Its easier for them to just tax the rich at 100%, than to make spending cuts.
